Car problem

I am having problems with the route era. I am trying to use Region Oldtimer [1930] for the era, but the cars don't show up on the roads, no matter which road I place down. Am I doing something wrong?

I don't have TS12 myself, but in older versions of Trainz, there was a traffic ON/OFF toggle button in the Splines tab.

In T:ANE, they moved the toggle to the route's Environment Settings, Location tab.

In either case, after using the button you normally need to wait a while until vehicles start showing up, or do some minor edit to the road spline such as shift a spline vertex.

Also, make sure the Region asset is not missing any dependencies.

Hmm.

I tried the region in TANE and it also didn't work. Looking at the Region asset itself showed a couple of errors that weren't reported by the system - an illegal sized screenshot image and a missing defaultjunction tag. I fixed both of those but it still didn't work.

I'm wondering if it's because none of the vehicles it refers to are equipped as scenery-trackside objects (i.e. they don't have a trackside 0 tag in their configs), they are just Kind scenery? That didn't matter in older pre-TS2009 versions of Trainz, but might matter now.

Here's another option: I'm using "1920s-Era USA Region" for two of my sims. It uses "whecsailor"s carz.
Give it a look-see.

What I said before about the Region referring to Kind scenery vehicles is indeed the problem. I modified the OldTimer 1930s region by adding another car to the config, one which is properly configured as road traffic. In my test route, this was the only vehicle to appear on the roads.

So that Region, and similar ones, which were perfectly OK before, have all been borked by N3V's rule changes, but the error-checking routine is not smart enough to tell you there is now a fault.
