Canadian Rocky Mountains 2011

A cool picture to help you through the hot months

thanks Derek,

now you go spring time probably i will go winter to compensate for the hot season here for the next 2 month till monsoon starts.

Roy

Hi Roy:

Here is a photo in the real world that I took an hour ago. I am hoping that if you place your forehead on the computer screen that it will provide much needed cool air for you. It's a shot at the edge of our property, the ice has melted on the river and you can see a group of returning Canada Geese on the ice across the river. I know this is not Trainz but maybe it will help. :D

Cheers,

Derek

:cool::cool:

thank you it helps, only the geese keep me awake. Reminds me of TN where i lived at the TN river and lots of noice and s...t in the garden and on the deck and boat but nice birds. Like your pict!
Ning is home again and Djoetje very happy, He lost wait Ning said so for sure he sad because i not come home already 3 or weeks now?!
If you want warmer picts from here I can post i know its not trainz but part of our world right?
I am spoiled now here with power 24/7 and aircon so have dry air in the appartment and yes the allergy seems to be gone and the wounds to heal well. Maybe in 2 or 3 weeks I will visit Djoetje for a week or so.

warmest:p regards to all of you

Roy

:Y:well done Paul, i think vids are under-appreciated in Trainz even though its shows in 380p or 420p i know how it looks in HD but that eats to much mb to put online for sure.

I can sense how much you like it thanks!
BTW I like the sound of the engines which one is this one?
Have a great sunday and yes I envy most of you guys who can play and i not allow myself yry to play other than testing which is sometimes very nerving and takes a lot of energy concentrating on any little detail but it will be again more than worthwhile doing it when seeing the results of the next WIP mtr by mtr every day uphill to Lake Louise;)

I can see for miles

In the foreground a beautiful patch of yellow Lichen shines as The Canadian heads northeast along the Kicking Horse River.

The 3-D ground textures really "shine" along this stretch of track.

Like "The Who's" song from the 60's (yah, I'm that old)...... "I can see for miles and miles and....".

morning Derek,

thanks for sharing the nice picts and comment!
Amazing how a simple texture can fool the eye make it look more than it is or am i wrong?
On the shiny textures i have seen that long time ago once in a while and never really investigated into depths as it is another of N3V's mystery features becoming cemented into Trainz.
Try again to chance the time and sun angle and see the difference is truly diferrent which means you can run only Trainz at certain times of the day for good shots early moring and late afternoon for good contrast and color.
Also sometimes i remember when rotate the same "shiny" texture it would dissappear so we kind of have to accept to be at God's or Trainz will it te be shiny or not.... funny on this long stretch it's only on that part of the'Kicking "Derek's" stretch:hehe:
and no where else (?) right and its the same texture used all over thousands of times.

Derek I agree night images have a real charm that is why you see everywhere I can i put street ligths and house lights to make it look like "Derek in wonderland".
Ning is home with Djoetje who lost a lot of weigth because he misses me to much but is getting better now she is with him but he talks on the phone like a little child when he hear my voice (heartbraking really).
Ning sends a big hug over the phone to you and Chantal!

I work my way now through the Continetal Divide but get kind of stuck in my own critical attitude of saying no not good enough and trying over andover again existing textures to make it look real enough but still not find what i want meaybe just move on and later find inspiration and a solution or just use what i have. It's probably me putting the bar higher and higher giving myself a hard time for nothing as Ning says many times no one out there is waiting for that, move on and enjoy finishing this stretch.
Derek you think I am getting old, lonely and grumpy?:(

Hi Roy:

"The Shining" (not the movie) in Trainz doesn't bother me. It can make for interesting pics like the Lichen image or that night image that I added several posts back along Kicking "Derek" lower canyon in post #1235:
http://forums.auran.com/trainz/show...tains-2011/page83&highlight=real+train+photos
Don't worry too much about Djoetje... all animals (including the human animal) have amazing powers of self-preservation. :D

Keep up the great work on the next subdivision. Certainly the images that you are providing are showing another great part of the total route IMHO.

Like the second image in the post above, as we get older we get a longer and longer view of life. So we don't get grumpy, it's just that less and less surprises us so we kind of say " well here we go again." That's just experience "talking".

The Canadian continues northeast along Kicking Horse River.

trainz2013032517382024.jpg

Far below you can see The Canadian crossing a stream with the Trans Canada Highway and a smaller rural road higher up the slope. The rural road provides access to homes on the right side of the stream. There are beautiful blue ponds in the distance, no doubt with lots of returning migratory ducks.

Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore"

Here are few moody screenshots I took of The Canadian driving into the early Dawn.

trainz2013032717292653.jpg

Pofig's trees really stand out and look "real" from this vantage point. You can see the Trans Canada highway on the left.

trainz2013032717331318.jpg

Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore" (from the poem "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe).

You can see a flock of Ravens in the upper right corner. To some First Nations people in the Pacific Northwest of Canada the Raven is known as the "Creator of the World" and is also known as a "trickster God." So let's hope they haven't set a switch the wrong way.

Auto meets Train and the adventure continues.

Derek most beautiful timing and shot wow love it you are an artist in taking shots and yes Pofig makes the route work and all the users amazing so many silent users but i respect their privacy and understand now better that not hearing them not means not working.

Happy Easter dear friend and all trainzers!

Kabooomm!! The first thunder storm of the season

Hi everyone:

Roy, nice screenshots of your progress at the Continental Divide. Considering these mountains have been building for over 100 million years, you can take your time to get it right (that pesky Pacific Plate keeps pushing into North America continuing to uplift several mountain chains).

My goodness, The Canadian is heading into the first thunder storm of the season.

trainz2013032917104133.jpg

You can see a lightning burst in the clouds behind the train.

trainz2013032917111050.jpg

Yikes, have we gone blind? A massive bolt of lightning hits just up the hill above the train. The passengers in the Dome car are momentarily blinded by the intense light. Better serve champagne to calm their nerves.

trainz2013032917125515.jpg

Just after that, several people notice two Pronghorns to the right of the train. This is actually astounding as there are no records of Pronghorns in British Columbia. Quick call the BC Museum of Natural History. :D

trainz2013032917273711.jpg

As always, in Roy's World, anything is probable. :mop:

Hi Derek,

superb shots as always!

Ed's (Euphod) world provides these deer and since we have a "shocking" wake up on climate change most people forget we also have a "normal" Darwin's world change right? i think they fit well even not exactly. Waiting for a 3D Djoetje.
Today Ning let me climb a fir tree and see how detailed the first pict not happen much that's why I post that one.....
