Canadian Rocky Mountains 2011

Truly beautiful shots and scenery winter and for sure the Canadian Rocky mountains is one of the # 1 place to see and be.
The fridge door will open as soon as N3V makes a step forward and fix things on splines, roads, cars and many more things that are forgotten exist for years now and they not even flinch or turn there back when serious trainzers knock first politely on their ""beach office" door in Brisbane.

Roy:cool:

Hi Roy:

Here's hoping that you will "open the fridge door" sometime and let out the drivable Trans Canada Highway. When you do let's hope someone has made a drivable convertible so that we can put the top down, set the environment to a sunny July day and go for a drive through some of the most beautiful scenery in the World. :Y:

Don't worry Roy, as far as I am concerned in Roy's Virtual World, we will turn instantly back to summer once Spring officially arrives later this month (even though Winter really continues much longer in the real world in the British Columbia interior). Isn't the Virtual World marvelous? :D

Cheers,

Derek

Hallo,

you have been registered just with TS12. I created a drivable highway and road set which has been released as built-in content together with my Milwaukee Road Avery-Drexel-Route at TS2010. And yes there is a lot of “drivable-road-content” at the DLS (from “Idiotboy” or “MWM”) which worked with my drivable highway and road set. Unfortunately that content does not work in TS12 anymore as it requires an update to make it fit for TS12. I guess such an update can be done only by the creators itself – probably.

The main problem is that you need to make a decision when you create a route. Do I go for “Road-Tracks” or do I go roe “ordinary-spline-roads”. Road-Tracks provides the possibility to get drivable-road-content running but on automated road traffic. If you go for ordinary-spline-roads we can get automated road traffic but don’t have a chance to get drivable-road-content running.

Of course nothing is impossible like a special spline containing the functionality of track and the possibility to generate on automated road traffic as well. But then we would need a subroutine which prevents a “collision” between automated road traffic and our drivable-content. Otherwise it would look unrealistic – or just funny if an automated car runs through one of our drivable-content.
I guess such subroutines even keeps trainz busy with things which does not have first priority in a TRAIN-SIMULATION. Furthermore I guess that there is a lot of effort necessary to get such subroutines done and tested. In my point of view the people at N3V would like to get a lot of very nice things done at trainz – even many of such “nice to have things” – but they just have still a lot work to do to make progress with new implementations of great functionalities about “must to have things”.

As I am writing here a solution comes into my mind:
By using stitched spline technology (possible at TS12 now) content creators could create Interstate-assets including both functions. A four lane Interstate asset would need to be created just something like a bridge-object. The outer lanes would need to get an invisible track attached and the inner lanes would need to get an invisible spline with a carrate attached. Such a set of Interstate assets would provide automated car traffic at the inner lanes and would open the possibility to drivable-road-content running at the outer lanes – without any unwanted collision. Unfortunately such a set of Interstate-assets would require a lot more of assets as just an ordinary road spline. Also every junction and onramp asset would need to be created again in a way to support the functionality as descripted. In addition to this such a special Interstate requires a lot more work and time to be done by the route creator to build it into a route.

Perhaps I will create such a set of YARN-like Interstate assets supporting support such a functionality as descripted to use it at my Avery-Drexel-Update I am working on.
In this case the whole YARN-like Interstate assets would also support season change – meaning the Interstate will turn into a snowy outfit within the environmental setups as well – not just the ground texture.

:)

Is TUME a "Roads" Scholar?

Hi Tume:

That is a very positive reply (I didn't quote it because it is long).

I know we are Trains people but on a route like Roy's it would be great to take a break and just drive around. You 4-lane Interstate idea sounds interesting and would be applicable along part of the Trans Canada from Vancouver to Calgary. If I have inspired you to take up the challenge that is great. I agree that the route builders would be doing double the work, but then again they are adding roads anyway, right?

Cheers,

Derek

Haha derek I qoute you to qoute Tume,

Guten Morgen Uwe,
Good morning all of you,

thanks for the detailed exploit.
In Roystrainz I did already put a bunch of Hayes loggers in Revelstoke and other place, ready to start transport logs from the mountain slopes to the industry nearby.
My concept was to include trucking and cars into the trainz world but lack of sufficient attributes (no time to make myself) like intersections roadtypes and put it in the fridge till better times. I did though include a double function traffic system meaning either one could be activated using Cyberstorms busroute spline. Very tedious job though consuming a lot of time but worth it on the long haul.
I understand where you come from and what you suggest, would be splendid if you could create seasonal ones. Regular spline one cannot make seasonal so one have to see what N3V has in mind in the future with seasonal but that can be a long wait even to get some response and thougths. they are not very communicative as we all experience for whatever devine reason they have to sing every day "silence is golden" no not Golden,BC,CA.:hehe:

For those who have my routes look in the layer structure and you will find some traces left of drivable traffic but not complete till I have all elements to release fully functional drivable truck that suits my concept.
One can go into surveyor and put splines all the way to make themselves a drivable section and store it in session so it will be saved when i release future minor updates on CPR Mountain sub.

there are many drivable trucks look at the gems from my fellow countrymen living in AU Willem2 he has done a lot for trainz and that is an understatement. Thanks Willem2.

Tume i did sent you a pm but no reply few days ago...

Roy's Trainz has been initially setup to allow multi drivable objects and serving industries or scenic trips.... by air, road, water or track.

Trans Canada Highway VS the CPR

It looks to me like a "meeting" of two types of transportation modes as the Trans Canada Highway arcs upwards and The Canadian follows the Kicking Horse River.

The Canadian has entered yet another tunnel. Notice the white glacier on the distant mountain. What a view. :D

At least it's not snowing inside the tunnel today. :hehe:

We are parking The Canadian on the next siding and we'll be taking a few days off.

Cheers,

Derek,

you embody (is that the right word?) exactly what I try to advocate with this first route! 3D, no 2D billboard stage like scenery for some kind of Shakespeare play.... no pun to those prefer that....

Yes the route is big not to say huge but real and the only way to express real views, real scenerey from any vantage point from any corner you look it's almost like the real thing (kind off)
Your picture with the glacier in the background is exactly capturing my love for and put into this Canadian rocky mountains.
Thanks for sharing so many shots and enjoying it.
Say hello home, Ning took the night coach from Khao Wong in the NE to join me for a few weeks.
I go back for a few days early next month as the missing of Djoetje next to me is almost unbareable really.
I know now I have to stay much longer here now for slow healing and hope the Monsoon might change things when going back NE. the good thing is i have power 24/7 no generator to fill, start maintain, not run at night etc you guys out there have no clue and spoiled until you not have it you don't know what you are missing.

Message to my dear new trainzer friend Bruce Kennewell, an avid route builder with lots of experience and we share lots of details especially on the ice age Jet engine core which still is hanging in there for God knows what reason, God would call it pennywise and pound foolish but that is why we are happily retired and these guys have to want to proof its still good enough.

Today only one shot on the go.....

As you can see he is more than relax when mom is home and share food or watch tv, Djoetje loves sports hockey.

Winter coming to an end (Finally

Steve, those are great images taken at dawn, very moody.

Winter is about to come to an end in Roy's World (although we got 5 cm of snow today in the real world). :'(

The view is spectacular with The Canadian crossing a bridge far below in the Kicking Horse River lower canyon. The Trans Canada Highway is closer up the canyon.

The bridge taken at "river" level.

Hi Steve,Derek!!
Yes Steve's picts are moody but very well taken amazing how the time of the day makes the shot really work.
Funny Derek when I decided to make seasonal I could not imagine that snow or winter shots could have such dramatic impact, look and feel. Normally summer or better indian summer with bright colors are people's favorite in making great shots, you Derek proof winter shots can compete in all aspects. Indian winter :p

Thanks for the posts and share of picts.

I experimented with my own WIP route of the Kicking Horse Pass-Spiral Loops, and it was a gas running a several mile long train, that draped, stretched out over the entire trackage, through both tunnels.

Really nice route !

Joosten & 64Warhorse: Do you really have those deer as pets, in your house ?
What are their species names ?

Cascade, AFAIK Roy really does have a pet deer, but the pic I contributed was from a friend's facebook wall. It is definitely not mine, I live in an apartment! :hehe:

Morning Cascaderailroad, Steve,

First Steve i just checked the CPR Mountain sub on your yellow signals and had already a feeling it would be next signal/switch was red causing the yellow. This was already true when i started at Donald P 499N where the signal is yellow... when you look at Donald Cemetry there is a switch causing that signal to be red and thus the 49.9N to be yellow so i guess the next onces all will be same cause or what I aslo did a few times to see how that work was set a signal to slow down and maybe that caused a yellow signal too.. let me know if you concur.

Cascaderailroad yes we have a wild Muntjac deer born in Laos just 60km from here on the other side of the Mekong river. It was one day old when we received it. It is protected species you cannot hold private but as this hypocrite world is full of contradictions poachers and ALL 99% Thais and Laos and Asian are they kill anything that walks or flies for food or sell... that said we are allowed to hold this animal (connections) and even had one time a doctor from National park 3 hours from here drove to us to do surgery on a infection in the leg Djoetje would die and he did a great job.
Djoetje's birthday is March 30th he become 4 years!

Before Djoetje we had Moomoo another male Muntjac deer 2 year old that stay with us, live, sleep and eat with us and every day after breakfast it when up the mountain in the back of the house and came back around 6:13 pm sharp amazing ...I put videos on youtube of him walking and playing with the dogs and walk on our property....than one day he not come home and when i write this I still feel hurt and want to cry as his loss was like you lose a family member so close. they are very intelligent sweet and have also a mind of their own which makes it so nice,
Djoetje is one who talks in his language and has real conversations with us and tells what he wants, feels and when i am howm he is always within 10 feet range when i move he get up and talk/shout and run to me and follow..
Evening he jumps on our bed and sleep at my feet or go to his own bedroom and sleep on his bed or in the dressing room or on the stair halfway, he has like in the wild several places where he can sleep or just sit and re eat sleep and just enjoy the view.
Now i stay 800km from home to recover from the allergy and this is really tough very tough. Ning went home again last night and stay with Djoetje for the next 3 weeks so he not miss us to much,, Whehn ning call me and give to phone to Djoetje he hear my voice and reckon it and put his nose on the phone and start talking, sweet he. yes he miss me very much....
Maybe next month i try to go few days or just wait for the monsoon till the hot season is over and the chance to get the allergy again would be less or none.

Indian Winter.....Forgetta boddtit !!

Hi Roy:

Thank you for the positive comments about Winter on your route. Winter is a reality across our great country of Canada so it is good that you added the seasonal textures to the route. :D

However, as promised, now that it is officially Spring I am going back to Spring/Summer screen shots (because we still have Winter here and it makes me feel "warmer").

The Canadian has suddenly entered Spring in the early morning as it heads eastbound.

thanks Derek,

now you go spring time probably i will go winter to compensate for the hot season here for the next 2 month till monsoon starts.

Steve!!

i did test some more on the yellow signal thing you mentioned and yes the next one near Redgrave was also caused by a next switch blocking and as sucht the signal red and the block in front of that yellow.
Think case solved!
I did use the right hand site driving here north track and as such have the switches still set for left hand makes them cause yellow signals in approaching them.

Roy

Roy ---

Okay, that's expected behaviour, and I have no problem with it when it happens, because the HUD also correctly echoes the yellow. The problem I'm seeing is that the actual signal says yellow when the HUD says green, and as far as I can tell it's the HUD that is correct ...

Hi Steve,

yep i saw that too but nothing i can change on that one right now...have to let it think in my brain and see if i come up with a solution...better someone else knows more about this glitch.

Roy;)
