Canadian Rocky Mountains 2011

Roy I liked your rock-face ground texturing, loved it in fact, but your snow texturing - well it just ROCKS!

Lovin' the new long-shot screenshotz, stunning stuff.....

Dermmy so snow it will be with great pleasure

Ning and I very humbly say wow thank you for sharing your excitement and honest post!
We agree the seasonal texture setup and concept I made with Ning ( Ning has Thai snow experience :p) and the different we call snow temperatures makes it look more grime and dirty and different from every angle....

Almost thought people not much into snow and ready to change the subject against my personal feeling and love for snow scenes.
Although the first trials and outcome already stunned me honest but many more things to do and Tume a similar seasoned seasonal texture expert agrees with me and is even more into the integrated solution.
Now the streets, poles, fences, track need to be addressed step by step so bare with me if not is done in same time....
I asked Pofig already for some snow sprinkle on the trees but what with the broadleaves etc etc lots of things more to change and consider I know but here we can imagine out of season snow and flora still not hibernating.
Yes the river needs a different approach to but have 3D things in mind when the next trainz will be launched same for the track for simulating deep snow!
I remember in the beginning some ultra trees from Brittany had season and snow but not even close to what snow effect has to be so not blaming her as i know the heavy snow has to be a 3D mesh on the as far as i can see now but i can come up with an other rabbit out of the hat as usual. just keep me pushing and my brain is already in overdrive working and storing possible ways it can be done.
Do you know I was the FIRST world wide making 3D trees and my first ever 3D A&E software in the very early 80ies but on mainframe and remember when working with our that time partner Computervision Bedford, MA on their mainframes when NBC visited the plant they saw my stuff and 4 seasons yes 4 seasons i showed them how to do and it was broadcasted the same day, funny how things start and get a new life.

Hi Jan,

sorry you missed the trout/salmon but i am sure in some picts you really can see them just under the water surface... The weekend i will look for some more clear shots ok?
Nights shots posted as requested.
Today we go for the monthly recover week bowling and cosy coffee corner and easy food and what else. The website well yes we make progress but its not what the western world is used to this is Asia with different culture and way of doing business every step is a milestone so bare with us now its not Trainz causing delays.... It almost looks like my little voice in my stomage says well its almost my birthday Nov 3rd and probably that will be the day it will be launched ouch guys its not that bad just 2 weeks from now and the good news the route is just running fine in summer AND winter mode.

warmest regards,

Ning,Roy,Djoetje:wave:

steep vertical faces in winter

Morning Warhorse64,

Fully agree but here is the but I did not make the rock textures seasonal only on vertical slope that way. i need to add only sporadic patches on that rock edges or cracks as in real life but no time yet for that i am fully aware and have to make additional rock textures for steep and vertical slopes. I did not see your comment as a complaint but a advice help and very much appreciated.
The roads tracks need seasonal to, so the houses, power poles, fences, road barriers you name it.

thank you all for the warm support!

Ning, Roy n Djoetje:wave:

Hi Roy and Ning:

You are really, rreeaalllyyy capturing the look of winter in the Rockies. I am glad to see that you might consider redoing some of the vertical textures in the future so that there are only sporadic patches of snow on the rocks.

The other important feature that occurs on rock faces are ice "stalactites." They may occur off the top of the rock face if there is drainage or a small stream. They also come out of cracks in rock faces through water seepage. If you do a Google search on "images of ice falls on cliffs" a lot of images can be found. Many of these images will be for streams coming over cliffs but there are also images of water seepage turning to ice stalactites. Of course you do not have to go to this extra effort, but if you do I believe your loyal followers and the entire SSG group's jaws will permanently drop onto their collective keyboards :Y:

Cheers from cooling Canada (our high was only 4 C today)

Derek

Morning Sir,
we very much appreciate your absolute great post for the simple reason: a route can be great, superb but calling it art lifting it closer to the heavens:hehe:
more snow to come

Roy,Ning
Djoetje:cool: is home alone with aunty:'( like in the home alone movie.
Imagine your aunty babysitting a deer, oh my dear:hehe:

morning Jango,
love your offer for snow rock etc but this route works with seasonal so only seasonal objects/textures would work................
I remember these from West of Denver and they are gorgeous.
For the moment I have to stick with the limited capability of textures seasonal all the rest still to be completed at a later time so bare with me guys.

@Dereck thank you for the detailed hints and advice, post most appreciated and will take all in consideration at the given time I start work on that level updating the route(s).stalagmites and tites i remember from the austrian and swiss alpes when young long time ago...so i still have a very vivid memory of my life and surroundings like a video I can replay!

ok enough talk time for picts.
Guys let me know when enough snow, we than go continue the regular summer picts ok?

warmest regards to all from a lazy hotel room enjoying aircon once a month:hehe: and kind of dry cleaners for the body haha.
Yes Deane ning beat me again at the bowling.NOw you know why I hesitate to teach her to much on trainz as she will beat me there too soon.....................

this one l like very much for the good composition and mountain slopes, distant slowly fading, dirty snow just another winter day I guess, yes its time we visit the real world again and step out of our dream world and see it for real and compare.

Just wonna make sure you understand

This route summer and winter is the same route only seasonal textures/objects allow to do that. Guess and almost sure most people not used yet or not aware of this feature n TS12.
Until now most if not all 3rd party and trainz routes are made summer, fall or winter route separate that's why I point at this ok?

Roy;)

Post #897: The 3rd and 4th shots are - running out of words here Roy - awesome, brilliant, pure art, Christmas cards, take your pick :)

Hi Roy,

For what it's worth your beautiful winter pictures are absolutely spot on for the Rockies in late winter, early spring. Snow covered ground and no snow on the trees.

cheers,
--michael.
PS When I worked in Roger's Pass, I lived in a trailer about 20 feet from the tail end of an active glacier. Best brew fridge made!
