Bulk Spline delete?

I have a route I like with many thousands of grass and scenery splines along the tracks. To get the performance up I want to remove them all and add my own static scenery items. The problem is the route is about 100 miles long so removing all the unwanted splines will take MANY hours. I did delete all the unwanted splines in one portion to test performance and it was much better.
I was thinking...just use bulk replace and move them to another layer that could be turned off. We can replace the splines with another spline but cannot move them to another layer so that won't work.
Is it possible to convert them all into one type of spline using the bulk replace and once I am down to only one type of spline somehow delete all of that one spline as a group?
Anyone have any other tricks up their sleeves?
Thanks in advance!

this could maybe work
1) replace all splines to one spline
2) go to content manager and delete the asset (you can get it again later)
3) go back into the game and remove missing assets from the route

It's too bad that the delete scenery items option in the Bulk Replace/Update tool doesn't delete splines. I didn't try that to find out. I recommend reporting this as a bug so this feature can be updated at some point, hopefully, in a future hot fix.

The method you used is the one we used to use back before the replace assets tool was even available. We would replace a tree, for example, with some gawd awful looking asset, maybe a bright orange tree, then delete that asset in content manager to force missing assets. This would require cloning the replacement asset and changing the Kuid to match the offending asset. Once the process was complete, we would then use the delete missing assets to remove the missing dependency.

This was a pain in the backside and having replace assets function appear in TS2009 (I think) and beyond was a very welcome edition.
