Bulk asset update issue

Yes, I reported that issue and was told there was something wrong with my route that was causing the problem. I recommend reporting this BUG again.

I have found leaving everything alone, saving and quitting, and then coming back in to do another bulk-update rather than doing a bunch at a time. It's definitely more time-consuming but at least nothing freezes.

I also found performing updates in selected baseboards rather than globally performs better and doesn't crash, but is really annoying if you have a lot of baseboards on your route that need updating.

Sent a Bug report today.

I presume that you are referring to the new Bulk Replace Tool in S2.0? have been using it in some large routes (not HD) and have encountered no problems.

Anyone having issues with this, seems incredibly slow to do any update. And will on occasion get to almost done and freeze totally. What used to work well is now marginal.
I agree it is painfully slow to do any replace operation when the whole route is selected, regardless of the size of the route. It is , however, still quite fast when replacing assets on individual baseboards. This is in Surveyor 1.

Never used to be slow, and still using Classic Surveyor. Found trying to use 2,0 on a older route gave me issues. Route became locked, and then trying to unlock and continue made the route crash. Thankfully the last CDP got me out of trouble not much lost so I thought. Until loading again the route loaded something I had done months ago. Any new work not appearing. Ended up deleting the route, re installing Trainz plus and then uploading the CDP. All good then. A few anxious moments as I thought 5 yrs of work had vanished for ever.

I really have not had a problem with it. Yes, it is slow if I replace an asset on the whole route, that is understandable because of the program needing to check every asset.

It's an absolute nightmare. At the moment I have set to replace some level crossing road signs with another type of road signs. There might be only a dozen examples on my route but it looks as though it will take ten minutes.

It has to check every asset placed in the route to see if it is the one it needs to replace. The more assets in the route the longer it takes.

Yep This is an improvement N3V? Really. What used to take a couple of seconds now takes over 5 minutes or more ? What a joke. (I am on TRS22 Sp4)

It’s now 2025, but I keep reading reports of serious bugs like this one in TRS22 that have not been eliminated in the 4 years since its initial release. TRS22, like Trainz Classics and TS12, might be one of those editions that I simply avoid.

Have no fear, Plus has the same issues. Like a lot of programs these days, there are a lot of new features and few bug fixes because it's more fun coming out with new stuff than it is to slog through the bugs.

That is the "new world". Modern (I.e younger) users want the new stuff, not the old stuff fixed up. Even if the new has a shorter lifespan and built in obsolescence. It's only us old traditionalists who want the old stuff fixed, and want it done for nix. It's the same with everything these days.

I don't expect things to be fixed for nothing. I do expect the estimated costs of bug fixing be incorporated in the initial purchase price. After 25 years of producing Trainz, N3V should have a good idea of that likely cost and be able to factor it in. If they keep releasing stuff that takes 4 years to fix (or is never fixed before the next release comes along) then a lot of us will delay purchase or skip some editions entirely.

The improvement is in the thoroughness and accuracy of replacing the assets, as in the past on large routes in particular, "artifacts" could be introduced into the route eg. stacks of track pieces etc. in random places. Incomplete replacement of assets was occasionally an issue as well. I'm all for the process taking longer, especially as it gets it right far more often, rather than being hit or miss.

I agree. The S20 Bulk Replacement takes longer than the original Classic (I have not tried the Classic version in the current release to see if it is the same or not) but, in my opinion, it does a better job.

@pware..Not only S2 but also in classic Surveyor. Since installing SP4, the amount of time taken has jumped to well over 5 minutes, sometimes exceeding 10 minutes, depending on what is being replaced. The size of the layout also affects the time taken. However, the point I was making is that this was never an issue with any versions before TRS22 SP4. There has been a retrograde step. I presume that someone has sent a message to the help desk? Presumptions are a scary thing.
