hell oooo!!!!!!!!!!

yesterday i downloaded some trainz contents via content manager. of trainz 2010.

I saw that these assets were saved as like " 93bt5bwk1263.cdp" bla bla .

If i download some 200 assets and i have to search kuid 2:xxxxxxxx:xxxxx. how can i search.

IS THERE A WAY TO OVERCOME THE PROBEM BY LETTING CONTENT MANAGER TO RENAME THE CDPS AUTOMATICALLY

Hi,

When you write :-
I saw that these assets were saved as like " 93bt5bwk1263.cdp" bla bla

I'm not sure what you mean:-
The files that are downloaded are *.cdp files. You don't normally save them to your computer - you just let the Content manager download and install the files. There's nothing you need to do!

The Content manager in 2010 will display the content by name - try using the filter (or tab) for "local" content and you'll see a list of descriptions, then the KUID reference, the Author name etc.

That's the database speak. The CDPs are installed into the CM3 database by it's own filing system. CM3 tells you what the object is, and displays it's kuid in plain language. You shouldn't have any trouble at all searching out a certain kuid or piece of content if you can use the filters.

In CM as they are downloading or afterwards you can click on the "Today" tab and the ones you are downloading or have downloaded will appear as a separate list, useful for checking for errors in your newly downloaded assets.

What's the hell is it

Nobody seems to sort out the problem . besides Creating more by making more and more webs around the asked question.

MY PROBLEM: Suppose you download 200 splines asstes via content manager. Save them in a folder on D DRIVE (say). Now unfortunately u lost some of the installed contents in your LOCAL FOLDER of TRAINZ USERDATA.
Suppose U require kuid 2:xxx to install. CAN U INSTALL THAT ONE FROM THE FOLDER THAT U SAVED EARLIER ON D DRIVE.

FIRST UNDERSTAND THEN SPEAK!!! Don't beat about the bush.

I believe you were already advised that the CM installs the assets automatically. I think you are complicating the task by saving the files to an alternative location.

I think I understand your question... I would just backup the entire 'User Data' folder periodically, and then if the game (or assets) gets corrupted, Copy over your latest backup of the entire User Data folder, instead of hunting and pecking at the problems. -Just a suggestion, though.

Normally, you should be using TS2010 Content Manager (CM3.3) to find kuids that are on the DLS. Then right click those that you want and select Download. This puts them in the Download Helper Action Panel (in the upper left margin) and starts the download. CM3.3 will download and commit them (assuming you have the autocommit option checked in Firle-Settings-Miscellaneous). At that point you're done unless there are errors to correct or missing dependencies to download.

I was only suggesting that if you wanted to confirm what you have downloaded you will find it under the Today tab.

I do not think this is getting away from your original post.

Sorry for trying to help!

DO YOU THINK AURAN SHOULD MODDIFY SOME FEATURES IN CONTENT MANAGER.

It should have an option 1) Renaming of downloaded assets by a) NAME b) KUID c) AUTHOR ID etc etc.

It will make easy to our search and find a particular asset!!!!

You can rename an asset in CM, open it for Edit in Content Creator and then change the name.

Also just a polite pointer, typing in CAPITAL LETTERS is classed as shouting and so frowned upon.

If you want to manage your content your use the cunningly named 'Content Manager' it's not rocket science. I'd learn how to use it if I were you, or buy RailWorks.

One thing I'll mention is that the naming of the cdp file (or folder in the local folder) has no relation to the name an item has in the game or is listed in CM3.

I personally am not sure what your trying to do. From the sound of it, I assume you are trying to download cdp files of stuff for backing up? If so there are much better ways to do that as mentioned here.
