Bakersfield To San Bernardino

-thanx to all for the great comments! yes windmills will be a feature in my route when i get there! i cant make up my mind on how to add vegetation cause to much willl hurt the frame rates so how do u do it? so i just scatter the vegetation around and now it ends up looking like tehachapi or Wyoming even tho its the cajon pass! hmmm.

Be careful too that your route doesn't exceed 50MB, that is the maximum Download Station upload size limit. Try breaking the route in two or more sections.

A friendly hint,;)
Scottling.

Of course, you can probably get your route uploaded to a 3rd party site, as they don't have silly limits like that.

Keep up the good work.

Nice work. One thing I might point out is the sky. You might want to change it to a clear (cloud-less) sky that is light-blue with alittle yellow/ orange haze, that will make it feel "warmer" like southern California. Rest is great.:)

-thanx for the comment. if u come across something like that let me know. i was trying to go for a smoggy like day since it is always smoggy there cause of L.A. factories!

-I just wanted to give a little update. nothing here is finalized and is an experiment on vegetaion. i'm trying to find desert brush that gets along with frame rates. anyway!
-Alray or former alray!

There are three words to describe the quality of your screenshots:
Awesome,
Awesome, and
Awesome!

This is coming along so well, do you have an approximate release date for it?

Keep up the better-than-good work, and Happy Trainzing!;)
Scott.

-Thanx Scott I really appreciate it.
-About the release date, i've been doing some math on it and if i can create a mile a day it would be done in prob. August area for the san bernardino to barstow section. but can i create a mile a day? I'm hoping def. before the end of the year. but that depends on life! i'm a one man army and this is my first route and i have found the hardest part about this is finding content to use, whats good whats bad, and what things are named. I'm picky cause i want everything to look real but of course this is a game and thats not going to happen. i've ran into a barrier right now cause i'm trying to make an area look good but its hurting frame rates so i'm doing a trial and error type of thing to find a happy medium. i've also ran into a bigger problem but i'm not going to talk about that :D!
-so ya, hopefully before the end of the year. who knows maybe sooner. :p

-EDIT: Serious problem! i've been corrupted! ts2010 froze on me and my route is screwed! i'm trying to figure out what to do, luckily i have a backup but it puts me back so far :( i'm so pissed! damn auran. damn you! sorry for semi cuss words, but this was something i wanted to finish since trainz doesn't have a cajon pass now it might be all out the window thanx to auran and its unreliable ts2010! now i understand a lot more about others when they get pissed that auran is not going to accept 04 content anymore soon and lots of other stuff. it all makes sense now!

Open Content Manager and do an Extended Data Base Repair. i had this problem once but once I performed the repair everything worked well again.

Hope this helps

Cheers
Timo

You've had plenty of praise and I really need to add to those, your work is top-notch, absolutely impressive beyond words. If there was anything to remember Trainz by when I finally die, it might be this (and Clovis).

Cheerio,
Nicholas.

CDP Backups

I can really feel for you...I regularly back up my route by saving it as a CDP, on a DVD-RW disk. I have made copys of my Local folder also just in case the whole thing goes KaBlooie:mop: :'( :mop:

Hope your extended database repair works out. The route looks great !:mop: :udrool: :mop:

-at the very beginning i started the route in ts09 then went to ts10 is there a way i can get it to go back to ts09? if i can do that i'd be more than happy to continue the route! i just don't want to deal ts10 and its problems that plague it.

EDIT: also on top of that when ever i do an extended database repair it pops up all this builtin content missing dependencies, how can i fix this too?

- I just wanted to say Sorry To All! As I stand, the blame goes on Auran/TS2010. I tried to fix my route but couldn't. I put in my back up route but it did no good. I had no guide lines to go off of, since i'm using utm tiles to trace off of. So I officially abandoned the cajon pass section for now and like i said, Sorry to all who was hoping for this like i was. TS2010 is no longer on my computer until auran decides to make it reliable. i will continue building in ts2009. for the most part it has never given me a problem since after the first patch.
-Work has begun in Bakersfield now and i'm going to take it a mile at a time. i went to bestbuy today and bought some dvd-rw's and now ready to backup as i feel necessary to get something released without problems!
-Anyway thanx for all comments and support. never thought my first post in the auran forums would go to 8 pages long!

I feel your pain, having lost a route before which I spent a month or two on. Try this; everytime you retire for the day, export the session and route to a cdp and save it to a different disk. This way, if you ever lose anything, it'll be at most a day's work. Twice this has saved my current route (I agree TS10 isn't completely stable). It only costs you one minute to relaunch CMP.

All the best, Joe. :)

Cheerio,
Nicholas.

As DVD-RW can be re-recorded many times over...repeatedly re-recording them over and over can eventually harm the disk, after several dozen to a hundered re-records.

A DVD-RW holds 4.7Gb...so I save all my routes several times per month, and my disk has all the versions of each CDP named progressivly, ie:Jan2010, Feb2010, Mar2010...etc...etc.

When my first disk is full, I copy the latest most recient CPD of the route, to second RW-DVD, then I rename it again to Apr2010, and I check it to make sure it installs properly and opens. Then I erase the first RW-DVD and the second RW-DVD becomes the master. This way nothing gets lost, and the 2 RW-DVD's get recycled and don't become corrupted by repeated over recording burn in's.
