Bakersfield To San Bernardino

Also, BNSF50, I tried to change the road speed using CMP in TS2010, but I can't find the place where you change the tag! Any help appreciated.
Scott.;)

Sorry for misleading you here. You have to right click the folder in the left hand column and select speed tag from the list. However unless you're prepared to modify the config file considerably by comparing it to a 09 built road then you;re better off to look for some roads that are already made for 09. Then you can easily adjust the speed according to the info I gave you in the first post.

Joe that's looking like May 15 to June 15, just before the major heat starts by July 1. Looking good.

You're welcome Joe. I was just going to ask you if you was going to model single track from Illmon to Caliente with the tunnels or double track with the tunnels daylighted but you answered it with your screen shots.
Don't have anything for Caliente as there's nothing there that's out of the ordinary I can think of.

Joe There's actually a house there at Bena with people living in it. And don't forget the crossing there at the Bena water tank. Its double track there but turns into single track just before the bridge a few hundred feet east of the bena warehouse, stays single track from there until Illmon.

-I've been looking for a post office similar to the one in caliente! i need to learn on how to reskin. maybe signs is a good place to start  (damn google earth!)
-Joe

I'll check it out, hope google shows it, cheaper than gas.:D

yea i just go down to street view. google earth has photos like every 10ft. or something! so for me its like driving the streets but in a digitized computer way! they don't have them for all streets or dirt roads but a good amount of them. everything in-between Ilmon and Caliente was pretty much freelanced and based off aerial shots from google earth cause there's no roads anywhere in there!
-Joe

Caliente is right! Which of course in Spanish means hot as well as the town in CA! And of course that's what these pictures are!

!Muy caliente!

Keep up the great work.

The horseshoe curve looks great there! And I like the old school power and freight cars.

What I find amazing and thank you so very much is that you're running from Bakersfield to San Bernardino! That's just terrific!

Two great routes in one; Tehachapi and Cajon.

:)

-Thanks! I'm doing it cause its what i know best and i grew up there. It's kinda like when a person (gimmie pig) asks for a locomotive and the content creators say learn gmax/blender and make it yourself... well thats what i'm doing but for a route. No prototype is out there of these areas. So if there's something you want and no one has it, gotta make it yourself!!! Luckily route building is a little easier than gmax/blender...for me! Anyway...

-Notch 8, running a cool 23mph as the horseshoe puts more stress on the locomotives, and this is just the beginning of its 67.8 track miles between Bakersfield and Mojave.

I didn't read all 18 pages so if I duplicate anything, I apologize.

I suck at texturing too, but what I do is open up google earth and at an elevation of about 200-300 meters, I take note of colors, not so much the texture and start with laying color and then decide on the best texture. This method is problematic on large routes because I'd be texturing twice.

I think your texture choices are fine. There's enough variety, yet simple. I also like how you didn't flood the route with vegetation, killing our slower computers, but enough to give the route life.

I also grew up in Cali and now that I found this thread, I'm really looking forward to DL'ing it.

Are you building this in TRS2010 and are you willing to send it to people for beta testing?

-thanks for your comment. I am using ts09. ts10 messed up the first 10 pages on this thread give or take, so i went back to ts09 and sticking with it!
-i'd like to have beta testers when the time comes. others have asked and i dont remember all of them since i post shots in more than one forum. I will have to post and let everyone know its beta time or something! my first concern is making sure everyone gets all the links and dependencies needed in one shot! (so maybe in other words, i'll need someone with no payware and a clean fresh install of trainz 2009, unless there are other ways) other stuff will consist of signaling, a.i., maybe scripting, atls controls, sessions, etc!

Hi Joe, I'm Joe too. But I'll sign as JC to avoid confusion.

Well, I went back through all 18 pages, didn't read it all, but looked at all the shots.

I'm so impressed!

As far as beta testing... I don't use payware and I have plenty of room on another drive for a clean install of 2009 if that's of interest to you.

I do have one suggestion for your screenshots. Since this route is in Cali, you should turn up the good weather fog... There's not enough smog!!! (I'm kidding, everything looks great)
