Back to TRS2004 after KRS

I tried to create NYCTA subway cars for Kuju Rail Simulator but I ran into problems trying to animate the side doors. The animations work in 3DS MAX but don't work properly in KRS. After trying to fix the problems, I decided to give up on KRS and return to TRS2004. Why TRS2004? TRS2004 is the last version to store data files in folders that are "unlocked". TRS2006 and Trainz Classics store data files in "locked" folders with weird folder names and you must use Content Manager Plus to open the folders and files for editing and after editing the files, commit the folders and files. If you made mistakes, you must repeat these steps. Tonight, I converted my NYCTA R32 subway car into NYCTA R32GOH subway car. GOH = General Overhaul.

Here's the screenshot of the NYCTA R32GOH subway car. Creating custom content and routes for TRS2004 is still easier to do than for other train simulators. I got a message complaining about missing content when loading my own routes into TRS2004. How do I fix this problem? I re-installed TRS2004 yesterday after getting frustrated trying to create subway cars for KRS. The problem may be in the 3DS MAX exporter for KRS.

Dear Jeff,

Unfortunately for the Kujuans, you won't be the only one to come back. Quite a fiasco that KRS!

The fiasco side of Alberte

You probably used 3rd party items in your route that didn't come with 2004.
Use "TrainzObjectz" to identify the missing kuids & download them.

I ran TrainzObjects and it reported no problems with the route. I thought that there may be problem with the resource cache.

The other way with TC is to create the folder outside TC, clone, edit in explorer, copy folder to a normal windows location then proceed as you would with TRS2004. When it's ready just import content, something wrong edit the folder outside the database then import it once more. It gives you a bit more control besides giving you access to the latest features and the code has fewer undocumented features.

It works very well, you can even choose your own kuid number if you wish.
