Hi Axe1970
I am really pleased with how the 'works grey' DD class has come out :) I will be looking into possibly releasing this version :)

Some screenies of a works grey DD 584 and a 2 tone green DD 560 working a passenger service along the South Gippsland line.

Zec :)

Zec,

I know this is a noob question, but I am going to ask it anyway.
Is the DD Class Loco Std Gauge or Broad gauge? .... If Broad gauge will you be releasing a Std version as well?

Thanks

At the moment, it's broad gauge. I'll be giving a standard gauge conversion a go before release, as technically the DD/D1 and D2 class locos were 'gauge convertible' (namely, the firebox should theoretically allow the gauge conversion). However, I'm not sure how it'll go...

There's a bit more detail in this thread: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?82816-ZecRail-Victorian-Railways-D-series-locomotives
And a lot more detail in this thread on VicTrainz (may require logging in? Not sure): http://forum.victrainz.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1756

Zec :)

Thanks Zec,

I like to run your content on my route and it is a Std Gauge route. Nice and simple for me :) I am not a rivet counter as such, so different gauges don't bother me. However I know it bothers some.

Your content is wonderful regardless.

After the rear 4 locos stalled on Owens Bridge Bank, CLP14, 42206, 42202, CLP11, CLP10, CLP13 and CLP17 are finally on the move again after a long wait for the assisting locos to come from Sandy Banks.

Cs1, Cs4 and Cs5 successfully tackle Owens Bridge Bank with a Silverton container train.

Both taken on axe1970's Georgetown - Tarrin Rocks route.

About ten years ago from 1999; you may have heard of the Railway Shop which used to be located in the former Railway Refreshement Rooms at South Brisbane Railway Station in Brisbane. QR were selling all manor of stuff from signs, benches, locomotive destination reels, tickets and even items from the Workshops such as the reffered Rollingstock Books. The shop closed its doors in early 2004 after cost cutting measures by the railways. Maybe he purchased it legally from the shop and has decieded to share its contents. Which makes excellent source of modelling trainz and my model layout at home. Kindest Regards Michael Gitsham

Yes Michael, you are correct. There is the possibility that the person [not me this time] did buy it at that shop. People here who are also on other sites such as http://www.railpage.com.au/ or http://railbastard.freeforums.org or http://www.wheelsonsteel.com.au/ would have seen this matter thrashed out over the years and the result was it was ok for far too many reasons to list here. One of the many reasons from people in the "know" was it was way out of date and QR or what ever they are called this week, was no longer interested in obsolete books. One of the reasons was apparently competitors would not be able to use it against QR. Much of the reasons mentioned over on the other forums centered around the fact that obsolete rolling stock is not favoured by the modern operators anyway. One of the big competitors to QR etc went out and purchased their own new articulated wagons from a builder at Karrabin near Ipswich. The rail competitors get the bulk of the material eg essential track and other infrastructure data, given to them anyway as the track and other shared facilities are used in common.

Many of the websites, including the downloadable ones, I mention here are just ones I discovered through Railpage and I mention them here as they might be of use to some here eg the carriage material I mentioned yesterday. I notice some here are also on the other forums and also thankfully feed material into this site. These other forums and this site help each other in a beneficial manner. http://railbastard.freeforums.org could be considered very different to Railpage and they are glad it is different!!! [no, I am not going to explain that...]

Many of us spent a lot of $$ when we discovered the Railway shop at South Brisbane was closing.

These will just be a fix to work in TS12 not an upgrade = ifs thats ok

Think I have even got them working in TS12 on my own machine but its been a long day

G'day!

@Pete, I think this'd be a good time to ask, the Pac Nat XR and XRB Classes you made are faulty in 2012. Would you consider updating them please?

Cheers! :)

Jake.

Here is Peter's Pac Nat XR and XRB as running on my PC in TS12 - I would not normally share others work in this method so please do not ask me to.
I can only do this as I have a work agreement with Peter.

Please note this is the existing kuid - so you will have to remove you current Pac Nat XR - XRB before trying to install - as CMP will not over write the current version.
This is for TS2010 /TS12 users only

Just a really dumb question did you have permission from QR to share these books as I know they are copyrighted documents

The Australian Railway Historical Society [ARHS], NSW Rail Transport Museum [nswRTM], Zig Zag, Australian Model Railway Association, Australian Model Railway Magazine. Rail News Victoria, Motive Power and similar have been publishing this sort of material for years. The ARHS has been publishing since 1937 using in many cases material supplied by the government and private railway organisations. Visit your local newsagent for the latest or the following websites for some. The nswRTM's high quality, quarterly magazine 'Roundhouse' is one of the better magazines not at newsagents so join if you want that NSWGR material. Folks who buy other magazines that print railway documents as part of articles can list the ones I forgot.

If you really want to get your hands on top class Australian Government railway documents visit Eveleigh Press, part of Southern Cross Model Railway Association http://www.australianmodelrailways.com/evframe.html

Check the catalog here if you want similar top class Australian Government railway documents http://www.arhsnsw.com.au/bookshop.htm

Some really good stuff is stored in Sydney in the Railway Resource Centre using the combined archives of the ARHSnsw and the nswRTM. They are just waiting for you to join them so the volunteers can send you the railway documents you require. Their research charges are less for members http://www.arhsnsw.com.au/resource.htm

The ARHS has sections in most states who have similar material just waiting for your research request. The state government archives or state libraries or the National library of Australia are also waiting for you to ask for this sort of material http://www.nla.gov.au/

If you want to see what Australian railway documents have already been published search the following as all up to the year 2000 is available for purchase by the general public on back copy DVDs from ARHSnsw. http://www.nswrail.net/search/bulletin.php and the DVDs with the material from http://www.railwaybookshop.com.au/shopdisplayproducts.asp?Search=Yes&sppp=10

This material from the various government and private railways/railroads includes items like official timetables, both public and railway staff versions, track curve and gradient plans, station plans, locomotive and other rolling stock plans etc etc and your research requests are only limited by your imagination.

Freight Australia livery anyone:

David that looks very much like my A class. If it is, I havent given any sort of permission to release a reskin that I am aware of. Can you advise if it is my A class? and any conversation in regard to your re skinning it?

cheers
Pete

Thanks buddy. Indeed, I created it as an alternative 'showcase' layout to Faxton, which is really only meant to represent the 1950s and not modern day traffic. It is based on the NE mainline between Melbourne and the NSW border at Wodonga (where else in the world is there a stretch of railway where BG and SG run parallel for a significant length) I don't intend on releasing it as it is only at a 2 baseboard length and not really intended to be a complete route. I just wish it wasn't so jumpy in terms of FPS, a train may be speeding along and start jumping backward a few frames, causing all sorts of wierd issues, especially with the latest steam effects. Also the reason I can't film on the route.

Cheers
Tim
