Australian screenshots

Hello Craig,

The standard gauge in all three states is 4 foot 8 and a half inches or whatever that is in millimetres. The space between the two rails of a piece of track is called the 4 foot for this reason.

The standard distance between dual tracks is roughly 6 foot give or take a bit for clearance and wider rolling stock or narrow locations.

The area between the outer most track and the boundary fence is called the cess and this can vary dramatically.

Railwayz

It's generally accepted that standard gauge is 1435mm, narrow gauge is 1067mm (for the purposes of main line running in QLD and NSW, that is).

David, are those going through the Hawkesbury region? Stunning. I remember going through there on sunset on an XPT, if it is. It's an incredible part of the country to see.

Been a while between drinks but I've been keeping a keen eye on the thread, gotta say the effort going into these shots is incredible.

As a bit of an aside, I was sent a voucher for TS2010 recently, wondering if I should bother cashing it in, or am I better waiting for TS2012 (bearing in mind I like my Australian content)? Reading the past few pages, I would imagine not?

Also, a message for Ryan: how'd you guys end up going this sub districts cricket season? :p

hi all

a really stupid question for 3830

how the heck do you get so crisp and clean screenshots?

i tried, but mine look like c**p compared to yours

thanks
ron

And great shots might i add:)
I think it has to do with how good ur graphics card is, my screenshots look awesome on my screen but as soon as i press prtscn it looks as if they've been compressed loads. Someone told me that if you turn your anti-aliasing on the options menu up it becomes slightly clearer, have you tried that?

Thanks for the positive comments.:) Daniel, those shots are top notch, mate. Looks brilliant!

You lot wanted more, so here's two more before I go to bed.

Scenes no longer spotted on the NSW system, X 50 (excuse the non-existent running numbers on the locos:hehe: ) and X 36 lead an empty fuel train bound for Shell's Sandown Terminal towards the main line, as they grind up the 2% grade heading towards Gwydong.

I've 'dried' the ground textures a bit, hopefully making it look like somewhere you would grow a bit of grain. I hope I visit the wheat growing areas of NSW once again some time. It'd probably improve this layout heaps.

Anyway, time for bed. School tomorrow.:sleep:

Thanks,
Mitch

Stevy, that's the old, old G511 of FA, made in like, '02

Daniel, in your 4th shot, what are the houses in the background?? And the textures in the 3rd

Excellent Pics BTW, you're the modern FR, except you've got a line, and not a module:hehe: , but detail-wise, you draw,

Jamie

Jamie, Haha it is an old workhorse.
The houses are:
Cityscape-House-141 to 144

And the only textures are the ballast:
OCR Ballast 1
Ballast2

Hope that helps :D And I apologise I don't understand "the modern FR" section, although if you could explain that would be excellent!

You're right on the money Scratchy. Ron, I just have an NVIDEA videocard and the antiailising is just turned up. Its also about lighting etc. So fiddling with the colours is important as well.

But thanks guys for the complements.

Cheers, Daniel:D

Edit: Mitch, great shots. Miss the Xs on the oil trains. One thing which I use is darker textures under grass such as next to the trackside. Gives a bit of depth. Just a suggestion though. Nice work again!

Q: What is a sink hole you ask?
A: A sink hole is when the ground sinks after each save and causes problems when one forms on a track or spline ;P

Mitch
those pictures are fantastic. The foliage you've used makes the shots! Nice work.
And Matt, long time no see for you!

Daniel

Daniel, that comment was actually regarding the route, not Mitch, but anyway. I have been a little quiet in the screenies department;
not getting too much route building done at the moment.
Mullet Creek apparently :o:confused::hehe:

'Apparently',
he says!:p

Mitch, I was wondering if you had made any significant revisions to the yard that your current work is based around? If so, can we have a look, please?:D

Great shots everyone!

Cheers,

Matt.

what version trs is that? I've never seen that bug before

I removed the images as they are really not needed.

I have seen something similar on Zec's Healsville (spelling) route and it was not near any tracks. I asked him about them, they seemed to only cover one grid square and he said it was a bug in 2010 and that Auran knew about it though they were not sure why they happened. The sink hole went down to the Zero elevation height.

I am not sure (from memory) if they occurred/changed after each save session and I have no idea why they may occur on a spline in general. If they occurred at an industry spline point then that would indicate a similar problem that once happened when merging routes.

thanks again

Hi Pete,

I put a post on Victrainz last year about the problem, it wasn't bad, but annoying, I just went through my route and found it's gotten really bad now

azervich_20110406_0021.jpg

This is a section of my route I haven't done anything to for several months as I've been working on a section further back "this image is from North Shore to Corio" I've been busy in Moorabool/Gheringhap end of the route for a few months.

I only noticed it because the AI derailed the Harris train, if it didn't derail I wouldn't of noticed it so soon.

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone else has this problem;

When using NSWGR Loco C35, released by comtrain, I go to couple to the train locomotive first, and the locomotive basically goes into the carriage while coupling up. The tender works fine, its just the locomotive.

Can anyone help?

Thanks c38nsw

Hi mate, can you post a pic of that c35 problem? Rod didnt make the loco, I did. We use his kuid number for anything victrainz

cheers
pete

EDIT: never mind, I found the problem, surprised nobody else had. wrongly placed limfront, this has been fixed. Unfortunately, I cant upload it to the DLS as it is 04 stuff. If you want it, I have placed a link over at Victrainz in the content release announcement forum. Remember, you must be a member to be able to download it.

cheers

Q.G.R Kiston B13 48

Hey Guys,

Its great to be on holiday...great to have time for trainz again :cool:. Well I am working in a joint venture with John Morty to make some QGR Rolling Stock and so here is my near finished Q.G.R Kiston B13; The boiler is made by my good friend Evan, and I am waiting on some a new 'older style' exposed cab, a pre 1890's tender, drivers with valances. She is nearly ready, so here is Q.G.R B13 48 "Lassie"
@Forrest, I am in love already::udrool:
