what locomotive is that? Never seen an Aussie one like that before
South Maitland Railway (previously East Greta Coal Co. until 1919) 10 Class 2-8-2T tank-engine. Essentially a tank version of the D50 Class - standard goods.
14 of them were built in Manchester, UK, and shipped over. Not sure on the details though - probably built by Beyer, Peacock and Co. judging by the red oval badge below the drivers window.

Correct FirstSoloFlight. The 14 members of the South Maitland Railways 10 Class Steam locomotives were built by Beyer Peacock between 1911 and 1925. All members of the class are preserved.

Actually, the first member of the class was delivered in 1912 and the last in 1926. The last members of the class were withdrawn in 1987, 75 years after the class leader entered traffic. Nos.10, 22, 25, 30 and 31 went on to have the distinction of being the last steam locos in revenue earning traffic in Australia. As has already been stated, all 14 still survive.
