Australian screenshots

That's how I do it, and probably explains why I favour building Muliebuck-style modules.

Unfortunately I'm very quickly discouraged and demotivated when faced with a huge area of blank ground. I dislike en mass texturing and tend to prefer creating scenes with objects and splines. I guess everyone has Surveyor preferences and dislikes.

Forest_Runner, i agree completely, and was trying to take it slow, and progressing nicely, i thought. Unfortunately i tried to take a shortcut, by merging a few half-finished routes together. This only added to the work required, as the whole 'half finished' thing should probably have provided a clue to.The routes were not completely textured, and i had to add several boards to account for elevation changes in the different boards.
My 'shortcut' only resulted in adding to the workload, and very quickly demotivated me, and caused me to give up and try again!

Axe,

Copy and paste can be a good tool to use, however, when your textures are as bad as mine are, it's probably a good idea not to repeat the pattern too much, as it does leave the route looking decidedly shoddy. For that reason, i tend not to use it too much.

Matt.

Davido,

Love the shots. I hate to sound like a gimmie-pig:o, but i had a question, with regards to your V-sets, which are currently, hopefully;), in production in your busy workshop.

With the end of September fast approaching, and the uncertainty around uploads of 04/06 creations, i have to ask: What is the future of this much awaited project? Will it be released before September for '06, after September for newer versions only, or is there some other solution you have in mind?

Again, my apologies for sounding like a gimme pig, i just had to ask a question that is on my mind, and no doubt many others!

Edit: Also, quick question: I'm working on a small fictional cityrail-style route, and was wondering, what would be a reasonable signal distance for a suburban style (think North Shore) route?
Matt.

Haven't thought about it much....definitely won't be finished before Sept so probably be 09 version I guess:confused:

Maybe 250-500m? haha

:p

Sorry, i don't get it? I ask a question, you answer, then appear to laugh at me. Is there something funny, or are you just trying to being smart?

Because you really have me stumped!

Edit: Davido, just saw you answer. That really sucks, if that's the case. Oh well, them's the breaks, and i suppose it's greater motivation for people to upgrade to 2009/10. Auran should love you in that case!

Not trying to be smart at all. :p

That should be an appropriate distance between the signals.

This is always the problem when a new version comes out.
How many versions do you want to support? I've stayed with 06 for longer than I would usually stay with an old version and this time Auran appears to have made the choice for me.
I'm not busting my guts to get them done before September...I've put a heap of stuff out for 06 which could easily been for TC3.
It's not a matter of Auran lovin' me mate...It's my hobby not my life!

Deadly,

Fair enough. It was just the 'haha' after the answer confused me a little. I think i'll settle for 450-600m between signals. The route's only going to be a small one, to experiment with urban scenes, to see if they look better than my rural routes.:)

Thanks for the input anyway.

Davido,

My apologies if i have offended you in any way. I do not mean to seem as if i am rushing you in any way, shape or form. i was simply voicing a question that was in the back of my mind, in regards to content currently in production by you.

If the model is released for newer versions only, then that is my bad luck. If i miss out, i miss out. But for some bad decisions on my part, i would be working and earning money, and as such, this question would not have bothered me. I would have a new computer, and a copy of either Trainz 2009 or 2010. That is my issue, and my issue alone.

I accept that Auran has made their decision in regards to support of various products, and i will be running one of those (unsupported) products. As such, any issues i have are also out any hands but my own. Not being in possession of one piece of content, no matter how desired, is hardly going to make Auran hold off their already well-established plans.

So, i suck eggs! And besides, you have plenty of great content for 2006, much of which i am yet to really explore in greater detail. So, my apologies to you, and to others who have to put up with me rambling and dragging this thread off course.

Sincerely,

Matthew.

In the event that IF downloads, as well as uploads from 04/06 are permanently cut off even for FCT holders ... there will still be plenty of third party 04/06 hosting sites. I still have not seen any official wording from Auran that is a "for sure" gaurantee of downloading in 04/06 just because you bought a FCT. We will have to wait and see !
