On an unrelated note, would any of you be interested in a 54' Sellers turntable? I noticed when doing research for mine that most of the remaining Sellers turntables appear to be in Australia, and would be happy to make modifications to fit some prototypes over there. Perhaps change over to Zec's '09 track, add some railings, etc?

I know I would Curtis. The existing tables are alright but not quite right, if you know what I mean. Some hand rails and maybe a small cabin on the end would be just about perfect.

What do you mean 'maybe?' If it turns out only half as good as your other work (not saying which one), you've still created a damn good piece of railway.

Quick question for Pete, about your Mcleod/Wombat mills. My apologies if this is a stupid question, I have a habit of asking them, but they would receive wheat by rail, wouldn't they? They don't just ship out the flour? I don't know much about how a flour mill works.

So even AFTER you were corrected on RailPage as to how many differences there are between the 90 and the 5000 class, you still insist on making comments like the above?

For those of you not on RailPage, the poster above decided that aside from the colour scheme, the 90 and 5000 class locos are the same thing.

I'm sure they do, but as I pointed out when I made both these mills, that reference material was scarce, in fact mcleods was built from a sketch that only showed 2 sides of the building and a photo of the building in the distance. Research on NSWrail .net has not been fruitful as there are no maps showing sidings in gilgandra. Wombat mill was a totally fictitious building from a photo on an HO layout. It was built to the same level of detail as the layout and photo allowed.

Thanks for the reply. I did say it was a stupid question. I suppose it could have been directed at the community in general, as what i really wanted to know was whether or not flour is still transported in NSW by rail (and what it is transported in!)

Also, i know it is a good site, with plenty of decent reference materials, but you should possibly have a look at other sites for rail diagrams. The site i pointed Raichase to night before last, Signaldiagramsandphotos, is a good one, and includes plenty of diagrams for NSW, covering a number of years. It has two diagrams for Gilgandra, for 2003 and 2007.

Just a thought.

G'day Pete. In regards to the Wombat Flour Mill, if you just look up Heljan's HO scale brewery kit, you'll find the structure that the main mill building was kitbashed from. You might be able to find some extra details there for your version.

Just out of curiosity, but where did you get the grainshed and elevator in the background from? I'm trying to build a 1950s era NSWGR branchline in 2004 (and in HO scale) and that grain shed is just perfect for both my 3d and HO scale branchlines.

The larger silo is by Pete (AD602000), and is Metcalf Silo on the DLS, <kuid2:63971:20826:1>. The smaller facility is by idiotbouy, and is westdale_d150_silo, <kuid:50567:27050>.
