Hi guys,

I was wondering if anybody was interested in an unfinished 8 board module? It is the fourth that i have started over the last 2-3 days, and i feel that this one is on the way to the scrapheap.
I'm not able to achieve a satisfying effect with this, in terms of buildings, textures, etc. I have the trackwork down, which i am happy enough with. It's just that i don't feel like detailing anything at the moment.

The route is a double track mainline with a small loco depot, goods yard and branch line connection. It has some buildings placed, no textures, and all baseboards are flat.

If anybody would be interested in continuing with this route, drop us a PM, and i'll send you the .CDP file. I may finish it myself at some point, but at the moment, it's headed for the bin if i try anything else on it.

Matt.

that is a great branch line!!!

that is a great branch line!!!

Mate, i am glad you like it. I think that it looks alright myself, i'm just struggling a bit, detail wise atm, so i'm putting building efforts on hold for awhile, otherwise it will just get deleted, and i won't be able to replicate the look/feel of the yard. Also, its a mainline junction for a branchline; not a branchline on it's own.

Thank you to everyone who expressed an interest in the route; copies are on the way via email. There are 4 people: Tanvaras, Railwayz, Mitchey and Trainz89; who expressed an interest in the route. I think i can safely say that, if i do end up scrapping it, it shall live on, in one form or another.

I may still give out copies, if you ask nicely, however i do not really think that anyone else needs to try and keep it alive for me.

Cheers,

Matt.

Edit: Michael (Trainz89), i am unable to send you any PM's for some reason. Could you PM me your email, if you really want this route? Otherwise i'll accept offers from someone else.

actually thats an interesting concept, 4 people start off with the same near blank baseboards, we should look at what results and how different they are

It is quite an interesting concept, isn't it? From what i have seen of Tanvaras and Mitcheys' works at least, there should be some quite nice work done. And the number of people working on different versions of the route could hit 6, pending a reply from Lenice; and me, if i get back into it after a few days.

So let's post screenies guys; i would love to see what you achieve with what i began!:udrool:

Hey everyone,
Long time since I've posted, I must say, WOAH!:D Great work everyone!:) I started building a new route today, called 'Western NSW'. It needs a bit of work, but, I'm almost smug about this area of the route, 'Woomburra'. (I've resized these images so they aren't as big and wide, so everyone can see them.;) )

mitch456yui201007050000.jpg

Basically, this is where I started. I fiddled with the land height as to give the track that 1950's-ish look, going with the land, no cuttings, no embankments, just flat on the ground. For a ballast texture under the track, I used 'Oz Forest Floor' because to me, it matches the colour of the track. Anyway, on with the story.
Yesterday, 5308 took a load of gravel from the Mackellar Quarry at the end of the branch (not yet built). She was sent on a return trip with a short goods train, comprised of two GLV vans bound for Mackellar, a petrol tanker for Woomburra, two RU grain hoppers for Woomburra Silo, a BDL loaded with structural steel for the new loaded being built at Mackellar Quarry, and an old CHG guards van.

mitch456yui201007050001.jpg

On her approach to Woomburra, a local rail buff takes a shot of 5308 easing into the small station.

mitch456yui201007050002.jpg

The crew uncouple the CHG and BDL at the station, to keep the out of the way while they shunt, and to give the guard a cuppa tea.:hehe: By now, she has just finished shunting the RU hoppers up to the silo, and is now moving to place the tanker in the Caltex siding.

mitch456yui201007050003.jpg

The rail buff moves onto the track, to get a shot of 5308 hissing out of the Caltex siding. She is about to shunt back, collect the BDL & CHG, drop off the mail, and head off the Mackellar.

mitch456yui201007050005.jpg

With plenty of steam and a light load, 5308 clatters across the old Woomburra Creek Bridge. The creek isn't much anymore, nor is the bridge. (You can probably see that I've moved the bridge slightly in the middle to make it look a bit bent, and to add age.)

I do need to do a bit more texturing under the track and maybe add some crop splines over the flat fields, but this is as far as I've come in... about 3 hours, not bad I reckon. Plus, I'm 13, which gives a reason for the poor work.:hehe:

Well, I'd better go back and keep building... or maybe I might grab a bit to eat? Either way, feel free to critisise, and give me a few pointers to make the route a bit better.
Thanks,
Mitch

Mitch, in your last shot what's the texture under the creek?? The routes looking pretty nice, how many baseboards is it?? And maybe you could make a modern theme when you're done??

Matt.

Just taken a look at the route. I quite impressed Matt with the track work. I'll have some progress shots up in a day or so. Unless I can motivate myself today (Has the flu bad and back to work from time off tomorrow) and get a few shots up today.

But this one has quite some potential Matt. This one is worth saving mate :)

Cheers

Trent

Jamie

It's called:

TPR09_Dry_Dirt_Cracked

So far mate, only 2 baseboards.:hehe: But, I'm planning on it being something like 20 baseboards. Long enough to feel real, yet, short enough as to not bore you to death with endless scenery of not a lot.
Yep, I'll gladly make a modern version of this route, it won't take much. (especially with TS09, that's what this route is built in)
Thanks for the interest Jamie:)
Mitch

You can now PM me now

Trent,

Thanks for the compliment; i'm glad you like it. About the only thing i would change is the stockyard; moving that from its present location, and making it part of a larger facility, possibly a salesyard/abattoir would make shunting a bit easier, and add more operational potential. Other than that, yes, it is a keeper, and one i intend to finish some day. In the meantime, i look forward to your interpretation of my work.

To everyone else who requested a copy, and hasn't yet heard back from me; i have just initiated the process of uploading this to the DLS. Depending on how fast Auran moves in approving it, it should be available tomorrow sometime.
I have decided to do it this way for a few reasons, number one being the number of requests for a copy that i have thus far received.

I will post here when the route is accepted by Auran; but for now no more PM's please. It's on its way, people.

Trainz89, there's no need to crawl. Just asking would have been sufficient for me.

Cheers, and thanks,

Matt.

NSW Nilligottim Available Soon

UPDATE:

Just received an email from Auran informing me that my module NSW Nilligottim, has been approved for upload and will be available in approximately 6 hours. Those of you who begged and did not receive, rejoice! The route is on its way to the DLS as i type.

Thank you to everybody who responded so positively to my original expression of interest, your words have done wonders for my confidence and motivation. I feel another module coming on!;) These things are addictive; and they keep me busy for awhile, when i can muster up the energy, that is.:D:hehe:

Cheers,

Matt.

SAR BlueBirds and TransAdelaide Railcars

Hi Trainzerz

Mattm, cook, others, great screenshots. Lovin them. I have grown tired of waitin for VinnyBarb to release his SAR Bluebirds and any updates on his TransAdelaide Railcars. I have been waitin an almost full year. Does anyone know where Vinny has gone to?? I was really looking forward to using his Bluebirds and TransAdelaide Railcars when they were ready for download. I have since downloaded the other bluebirds. Will post screenies shortly. Any news on Vinny's content would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, SARRailways :D:):D:)

Very nice as always Davido, and others - makes me wish I was back in front of my main PC - getting so many ideas, but I fear this onboard ATI video card on the laptop, doesn't get along really well with Trainz :P By the way Davido, I particularly liked the smoke/soot type texturing at the tunnel portal on the previous shots - looked so realistic - is that your own creation? Or one you've donwloaded?

Davido I hope those V-sets are going to be releases, and that layout, and well, everything you and Nat have created over the years, especially those fire-engines
Jamie

Wow, Davido. Nice shots. Are they from your Central Coast route? I think they may be, as that second shot looks mighty familiar. I almost thought Wondabyne, but then i noticed the platform was an island, not an outside platform. My best guess would be between Woy Woy and Gosford; where i cannot say. All i know is that it is very, very familiar.

Muliebuck; fear not. While you are away from Trainz, i have decided to step up to the plate; and fill a gap. I have recently released a few modules of my own, which people seem to like, judging by the response to my last offering. Better hurry back, mate, you have competition!:p

Building modular style routes is bloody addictive!

Edit: JJDella, did you get my PM? Just wondering.

Matt.
