P.S. Lets hear some QR Support! I'm fending off the PN Paparrazi by myself here!!

Okay, you want support, you have it! QR All the Way man!

Okay, your NSW XPT held the Aussie speed record for rail up until the late 90's, at 187km/h ish (that figure comes to mind from somewhere). And then, out of the blue, you New South Welshmen never saw the QR Tilt Train coming! It bowled over your speed record at 210km/h.:D Suck up to that, why don't you?:p

Enough ranting, more screenies.
An old one of mine....

Thanks for the help everyone.

@ Jackford, yes they are the signs I am thinking of. Nice screenshots too, keep them coming.

@ Raichase, thanks for the links, I had seen some of the details when I search RailPage for details. It certainly can get complicated when you start talking about codes, at least now I know what they mean :hehe:. I was also thinking of 80km for Freight trains and 100+ for XPT and Express Trains but I was not sure how much the "+" should be, looks like 120km is a good figure.

@ Railwayz, thanks for your help as well, ever little bit increases my knowledge.

A special thanks to Ghosty who contacted me via Yahoo messenger and provided some very helpful information.

xpt's are rated @ 100kph as are exploders I think, it depends on the line, goulburn - canberra is rated @60kph so the exploder doesnt go over that We dont get fuel trains anymore and the bull compost generated here is non exportable unfortunately:hehe:

and in answer to the QR lot, from memory, your tilt train has a nasty habit of bowling itself over on occasion:hehe::hehe::hehe:

What do ya know? QR DOES have a 6000 class. Nice looking, too! And apparently there were even fewer NR's (thanks Ghosty. :p )

Furthermore, Mitch and I quickly discovered, it's easier to agree QR and PN are Australia's best companies together. ;)

AD602000, that only happened once as it was speeding. In the Tilt Train's defence, the second time it hit a truck...

Usually Matt, until a vehicle gets in the way... I believe the Dubbo XPT hit an excavator not long ago?

Well, that's different i suppose. And what is an excavator doing that close to the tracks? Is this one ARTC parked a bit too close, or was someone racing trains again? Seriously, when will people learn; at the places marked "railway crossing", the big mass of metal on the shiny rails moving at 60, 80, 90kmh has right-of-way?

And Jackford2009, the pics look good. Keep them coming.

Matt.
