Matt, those wagons are fantastic.

Here's NSWGR_3801's new, apparently not to be released Zig Zag Railway route. His account isn't working so I'm posting for him:

Thanks guys for the kind comments :) ! As I mentioned earlier the texturing still needs work, so there may be a grimier version to come :hehe: !

I may even make two versions; brand new one and a weathered version.

Cheers,

Matt

That would be cool. :) I like em clean.

Matt, with the alpha map shadow, when the wagon has a container on it does the map change or what? I can't be bothered explaining what I mean, it's late haha.

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm not sure how to go about it yet  !

Have you tried an animated mesh in the load?

Using an animated mesh with 'static' loads (e.g. containers) does work, as I used it on my M cattle wagons for a hay texture for the floors when loaded (when empty it was cleaned out, and no hay on the floor).

You might need to play around a little with the animation (feel free to email me if you need help), but you should be able to overlay a another shadow on top to represent the container's shadows.

Can I suggest that you try implementing the built-in Trainz dynamic shadows as well? You may find that these may look a little better in some cases. In particular in 2009/2010, where the built-in shadows actually have a similar effect to the one your showing (since that will appear on other objects :) ).

Just some ideas you may want to play with :)

3830, you said that 3801's Zig Zag route was not to be released. I made the Zig Zag as well, and uploaded it some time ago. I'm not sure if it worked though. It's made in TRS2006 Build 3092, and it's quite good I think. I'm not sure how to attach a thumbnail though.:o Why does the DLS require a thumbnail before it can upload? Obviously, so people can see what they're getting, but why is it a required component of the upload? Surely you can add one later?

Really!!
Attaching pictures is an absolute must, if you don't speak the language the item is described in.
In my opinion it does not go far enough yet. Some European stuff is put up on the DLS with generic pictures and as over 75% of us here speak only English, we have absolutely no idea what is being offered. Do we download and delete it later or do we actually just ignore it? :( My guess is most of us ignore it.
It is very obvious that a picture of the object offered would help us to make up our mind, as to whether we download or not.

It is more probable that our European friends know some English, than the other way round. However offerings with English Text and an accurate depiction of the object offered helps everybody who does not understand English to discover what the object is.

It would be an excellent addition to the next edition of Trainz, to allow translations to be selected by the user. In other words hovering the cursor over the description gives the translation in the language of choice, OR...
Allows you to add a translation if you so desire. Thus members can help their language deprived friends to understand the description..no?

For me if there is no image then I will not download it, unless someone has mentioned it in a thread and I know what it is.

There are some great items on the DLS from those who's first language is not English and therefore I can not read the description. However, with an image I get an idea of what it may be and if I am interested I translate it with Google. The only problem I sometimes have is trying to workout what the language is :hehe:

An image is very important and a MUST To me.

After reading around, I find that I need two thumbnails, one for the DLS and one for the Surveyor icon. And I see that I need to attach the thumbnails with words in the config file. When I go to My Content in CMP and click on Asset Details for Zig Zag Railway, it says No Preview in the thumbnail box and I can't right click and insert a picture onto it.

I'm well and truly stuck with this. It's my first ever upload and I need lots of help urgently. I'm sure everyone's the same when they first start on Trainz.

Hey

About the Australian screenshots. As I live in Adelaide, and am a huge railway fan, I am curently working on an Australian theme route in TRS2009, I picture it as if, all of Australia came togheter during the 1970s and possibly 80s. I was wondering if there are any more SAR Steam locos than the locos curently on the DLS??? I would try but I am only 13 and would like to wait until high school to learn PC designs.

Thanks, SARRailways
