A Slice Of GWR Down Under

Greetings everyone,

Well Pete, I am very impressed and the NSW C35 is my favourite NSW locomotive. Which means if its released i have to get a copy!!!!!:udrool: for a little side project; NSWGR Lithgow. Try to create some Caves Express Carriages to go with The C35 locomotive which were the principal locomotive of the train at the time.
You might know this but The C35 locomotive was designed by Mr Lucy which happened to be mentored by the very famous GWR Chief Mechanical Engineer; C.B Collet. The early designs looked like one of Collet's Great Western engines notebly the Saints.

There you have it...... a slice of the famous Great Western Railway in NSW

P.S I know this a Australian page but I wan't to show some of my GWR Hatley screenshots & a few Victrorian ones ( Zec & the happy bunch of VR fans are going to love this!!!)

Till next time,

I am not sure if you are aware, but the Auran container products are a bit of a croc!
Charlie Lear partnered up with some others and produced a heap of scale Aussie containers. I have written to him as both you and Ad602000 have new flats coming out, hoping that the containers can be upgraded or at least made available again.
These may not be the Aussie ones, however they are the correct size, and I hope you might look at them and use them in your product queue rather than the Auran ones.
Done under the 49267 kuid(Charlie's partner partner in this project.)
And I found that 35001, 35004:1 and 35005:1 were still on the DLS however 35000 seems to have corrupted.
Charlie's static containers were 62941:27206,27211,27213,27215,27218,27225.
and hope you don't mind me butting in
Cheers

NSW freight

Hello Australian Forums :)

As you may have seen I'm working on a fictional New South Wales based railway and was wondering who is the biggest freight operator in the area/whole of Australia? As I live in England this is unfortunatly not common knowledge to me :(

Oh and more updates on route soon ;)

Thank you

Well, having only been deep into the area myself once, I'm not that familiar either. The main ones are:
New South Wales State Rail Authority (NSW SRA)
New South Wales Government Railways (NSWGR)
Pacific National (PN or Pac Nat)
FreightCorp
Australian Railroad Group (ARG, an American company)
Queensland Rail National (QRN or QR National)
And a minor-ish one, Manildra Group and a thousand other privatised lines.

And then there's the passenger routes, which is mainly NSW SRA and CountryLink.

Hope all of this Helps,
Scottling.

@georgem

look here, all about NSW, operators are under links

If you are going to use DEM data for your layout contact "jerker" over at victrainz
http://http://forum.victrainz.com.au/index.php

he will probably fix you up with whatever you are after. You may have to join the group. It's a victorian based group but they readily embrace any australian orientated trainz related stuff.

Anyone in this forum or victrainz will be more than happy to give advice.

another good information source is

again you will have to register

Dear Geirgegem,

I welcome you to the fourms  and tell me which era you are modeling say 50's or modern. Its either NSWSR or Railcorp I can't tell becuase i don't specialise in present day modelling?

Kindest Regards

Dennyson st, Rockhampton huh? Must be a route from a fair while ago, as to the best of my knowledge, its been converted back (!) to single line, bi-directional running. Either way, I agree - looks fantastic and I for one would love to see a Rockhampton route - particularly its fairly extensive yards :)

Hey Georgem,

It does depend on what era you are building the route to represent. Modern day is Pacific National, mostly, and Cityrail (suburban) and Countrylink (inter/intrastate) for the passenger trains.

Please correct me on this if I am wrong. The NSWGR was the steam era and early diesel era, I think. State Rail (NSW SRA) took over and were operating in the 70's and 80's, and the National Rail corporation, or National Rail was formed in the 1990's. They were later taken over by Pacific National when they were merged with... I think it was Freightcorp? I'm not sure about Railcorp, or the formation of CountryLink though.

Was FreightCorp and CountryLink the created result when the SRA was privatised?

Hope this helps, anyway.

NO it was when it was decieded to break up the SRA into to 3 groups City Rail - Country link and Freight corp, theres quite a few web sites about this so not hard to google it.

And Previous to that it was the STA - State Transit Authorty - which also included the buses, ferries and all public transport of NSW. Thats the blue and white train.

Now if IIRC before that it was the PTC Public Transport Commission.

Hey everyone

You forgot the Urban Transit Authority :hehe:

After the PTC it was the State Rail Authority (Rail) and the Urban Transit Authority (Buses and Ferries), then State Rail Authority (I think) and State Transit Authority (Buses and Ferries) :hehe:

Thank you

Thank you to all the people who have helped me ;)
And to those whoe were wondering, I am creating a modern-ish NSW based line, it consists of a industrial based rural line and a fast mainline (not sure whether to electrify it yet, but more updates later today.

Unfortunatly my download station does not work (content manager or direct download) so I am have to use default stock :(

But thank you everybody for the warm welcome, hoping to be a more frequent poster soon :)
