ERIK - Thank you for details of the JCar Top Loader appreciate your reply.

ROY - Trying to recreate the lower north shore in Sydney must go down as one of the "Great Challenges" undertaken in Trainz.
Your persistence and your continual lifting of your own bar is amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers

Thank you Nick for your uplifting comments. I do appreciate them.

Although I wouldn't go that far to consider it great, but it has been challenging in some respects. I've always believed that if you start a project, great satisfaction comes from completing it.

I guess when you grow up from a kid around a certain area (in my case it was the North Shore), some things stay implanted in your brain. We are very fortunate today, to have such a program as Trainz, which allows us all, to express ourselves in so many different ways and recreate the things that meant so much to us from the past.

Cheers mate,
Roy

G'day everyone, A lot of very impressive shots since I last posted, keep em coming.
Roy, put me on your distribution list. Your route is looking terrific.
I've been finding it difficult lately to get much time on Trainz but still doing a bit where i can. Downloaded the awesome Fingal line, very impressive Pware.

Thanks Graeme, You're already included mate.

I do like the catenary in the above shot,... and it does look a touch like Aaron's handiwork.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone with the appropriate skills could produce and combine, the NSW gantry and cat wire in a 40-50m spline !! That would make life easy!

Cheers,
Roy

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=L-TCaNytuNA go have a look at this new NR horn, if any one from the ATD wants it for there NR’s just ask me.
tell me if u like it, also go a bit of help from vFernandez.

Hey Ryan,

It doesn't sound too bad mate.

But if you want to compare it with the 'real' NR horn sounds, check out these links

Hey Roy

That is my work mate, when Graeme is happy with the section he has done I will take it back for a time to complete the wires. I'm quite anal with the wires as I believe they only look good when they are set properly with the Stanchions.
I find the above shown stanchions ok to work with but the true custom ones take a lot of tweaking in order to have them done properly. It is rewarding though when its done because it adds realism to any NSW electric based map. :)

G'day All, actually got a fair bit done between Thirroul and Austinmer today. Too hot and humid to go outside here.

Hi Aaron, I thought I'd picked it right. I just don't seem to get mine anywhere near close to yours.

More testing today mainly to see if all the portals are spawning as I'd set. I make a few changes and I've created more homework to do.

Thank you Erik, I appreciate your comments.

Beautiful shots mate, I really like your detailing - it's got a natural look.

Cheers,

Graeme: Wonderful screenshots mate. It looks like you've got a real grip on the Illawarra environment. Great work.

I've struck a problem (hopefully minor) in setting up the basic session for my Sydney route. The AI driver/s decide to take a 'coffee-break' or hold a 'stop-work' meeting when you least expect it.

When I mouse-click the leading unit, it springs to life, but I have to give every driver the same prod. Not sure what's causing this, but a few guys are looking into it. If the drivers want more pay, then they've 'got-buckleys' chance.

In the meantime, here are a couple of shots around the harbour.

This one is Birchgrove wharf.

the time has come to stop work on this route, it is not very detailed and it is now already being done by so,done else so why bother me doing it.
not sure what route I make but every one i try build gets taken over by some else who has more expieriane and capablity than I do.
so I think I might just not make routes any more. That will be hard but will fix the problem.

You just do you mate. Trainz isn’t a competition. Build something because you enjoy it.

Hey Ryan,

Jamie is right mate. There is no competition among any one of us and the majority, just treat Trainz as a hobby. We do it because we love trains.

Why give up on something you have started? I thought you were making good progress.

AND, ... No one takes over your routes.

No one is in charge.

No one nominates certain routes for individuals to make.

We live in Australia mate, a democratic country and we can choose, what we like and do, in our spare time.

There are dozens of people who may build a route about a particular area they are familiar with. Some people might be better at doing certain things than others; but through the forum and video tutorials, we learn how to do things better. The more you do and go back and re-do a project, you gain more experience and skills. The more you do it the better and quicker you get.

You say your layout is not very detailed. Then why not take a small section, say one baseboard and detail it the best you can. Then look at real life photos and make some comparisons with what you've done. Then go back and improve your work again. If it's not to your liking, do it again.

Just as an example, I have built my Sydney CBD layout about 20 times. I did it once and wasn't happy with it, so I started from scratch again, then again, and again. Each time I tried to make it look better. Even when I do complete my current version, I will probably find something that will make it even better, so there could be another version. But no one is holding a gun to my head and asking me to stop, because they want to build a Sydney layout.

Whatever you want to do Ryan, just do it and accept responsibility for your actions. And don't blame others for taking over your routes. Remember, we are not mind-readers - we just enjoy our trains.

Cheers,
Roy

It looks like I may have solved my own problem with AI drivers stopping for no reason; and then waiting for me to give them a 'click' to make them run.

Be careful when setting up your sessions guys.

To save time and energy in setting up a few sessions, I had copied and pasted 'Central Portal Control' and 'Schedule Library' from my previous Sydney route (SP2) into new sessions on my updated route (HF1).

Little did I realise that the AI drivers were not recognising the changes I had made to new trackmarks, stations, triggers, consists, etc, even though I'd implemented the changes in Schedule Library.

So I started a new 'CPC & Schedule Library' from scratch and deleted the rules I'd previously copied and pasted.

A trial run starting with two portals spawning consists and now the trains keep running.

It doesn't pay to take shortcuts sometimes. I can get on with the job now.

Cheers,
Roy

Ryan, I have been working on this map for since 2009 after many game crashes destroyed what I had. This time round I've been lucky enough to have Graeme doing the scenery as my enjoyement comes from Track laying, signalling and wires. No one has any issue with you continuing to build your maps. If you enjoy building your local area, then go for it and have fun. That's what trainz is all about, have fun and relax. Graeme and I will push on with ours so you do the same.

I'd send you some, but nearly all of them stand out stark white or nearly so. The dark ones are nearly black. HOGs just don't work well in T:ANE
