Australian screenshots

Nice screenshots Azervich, particularly your landscapes.

I've put a little more work into 'The Redcliffe Line' today,... re-stabilising track levels and catenary throughout. Did some testing of different 'consists' to see what runs smoothest to a set timetable. Got to look after the passengers, you know! I still have a little more detailing in the landscape department to complete and the route is almost done. Then I'll be working out Session scenarios through Portals to go with it.

Here are a couple more screenshots ...

Hi Roy3b3

Just about your Lawnton there, Lawnton is actually three tracks with the platform on the left of your 2nd shot being an island platform. The Route's coming along however and is starting to look better with more QR content.

Hi Little Bondi, .... Of course, the "Real" Lawnton does have three tracks as you describe. I know it well having done heaps of market research in that area several years ago. However, I've used artistic licence and created "My" own Lawnton with only two tracks, just to be different.

Bear in mind, that the whole layout is based on my imagination (not historical or an exact replica) and only resembles the real line in a few sections. The actual line due to open next year may be somewhat boring in places, so I've tried to highlight a few interesting 'views' and the extension "Lawnton" was added as an afterthought to take the trains as they left Petrie. I could name it something else or it could be changed or even deleted, if I considered it had no appeal.

It doesn't matter really because I have a major problem in trying to locate suitable QR Passenger 'Electrics' EMU's & SMU's in Trainz having the correct Qld track gauge. (Have you listened to the loud screeching and howling noise these EMU's and SMU's make in T:ANE ?? No wonder people don't want to run them.) AND, I don't have the skills to create or modify rolling stock myself, so I may be obliged to use standard gauge on my route instead with whatever trains are available. It'll be a bit sad if I have to use NSWGR stock (and there's plenty of it around) on standard gauge in Qld.

The good part of any branch line route, is that you can merge it to any other existing line as you see fit.

Thanks for your thoughts, cheers,
Roy3b3

Actually Roy, Some units do make a lot of noise while others may not make as much on exactly the same piece of track. As with any piece of machinery, they develop their own quirks and personalities. Keep going as it looks pretty good to me. If you need any info for the area per se, let me know. The line is pretty much 5 mins away.
Regards
Glen

Thanks Glen for the kind offer. I too know the area fairly well, having door-knocked every street as a market researcher in my past life.

A Google Earth shot along railroad crossings tells it as it really is, but also, it picks out the drab things we 'don't want to see'. More often than not from a railway carriage window, all you see are backyard paling or corrugated iron fences, lots of weeds and dumped machinery. In metro areas you generally only see the main action leading into and out of stations. So although my route is not a 'mirror-image' of the area, I've opted to brighten things up a little, particularly from the cab view.

If I knew how to turn down the 'screeching-factor' in the QR EMU's, it could be a pleasure to run them.

As a matter of fact, one set of EMU's (although not shown as faulty) always brings up the dreaded "Red Bug" as soon as it hits the track. This happens to be the only one that has opening doors - how unlucky is that! (So, it MUST be faulty!)

I'll keep plugging on. By the way I like your 'Tag Line' - It pretty well sums up what I've been doing for the past few weeks.

For general interest, I am planning to go back to my QR EMU meshes after the completion of my railmotor. Both versions from 2002 to current with upgraded buttons and DT interior. New Door Meshes.

As one is taking a break from Central Division, and going back to finishing the QR City Train series.

My EMU sets are working fine in TANE, however i am waiting for the SP to be released for me to ensure they are working fine, and i will release a later version with the correct bogies, operating doors and destinations etc.
Please be patient!!!!!

Good to hear Bruce your still around. Look forward to the updates as they will come in handy for City Train.

Still got any plans as mentioned a few years ago for an ICE after updating the EMU sets?

Cheers.

A couple of old Queenslanders from the mid 30's. These are a standard design which could be bought with a low interest state government loan. House 37 as original and 37A with sleep out. Available at trainzproroutes

That's good news Michael. I'll be extremely grateful when you have the QR City series available.

Hi alby6, This is even more good news. I'll certainly be patient and I look forward to seeing some good looking EMU sets in the not too distant future.

They look great Falcon500. I've just downloaded them and so I'll use them on my new Redcliffe route. Nice work.

Thanks for your comments. Its what I like best about Trainz being able to create some of these old houses to use in my routes.

The Redcliffe Line: I've added a dedicated freight line from Caboolture Portal that passes through Petrie and Lawnton. I've made some radical changes to the Lawnton station to accommodate the extra traffic.
Still got plenty to keep me occupied. Here's a few screenshots (not high definition). Enjoy!

Two QR 2300 Class diesels towing some empty QR VCAL & QR VCAS wagons over the hump and into Petrie.

The 2300 Class driver gets the signal from a track-worker to take the level crossing. A 3 track QR level crossing now replaces the 2 track that was there previously.

The last batch of wagons are heading for the Brisbane Portal.

I think running a freight service just adds a nice touch to any layout.

Hello All,

@Roy3b3; it has been a lot of work over the last few years with Custom Content and documents to make it get just right but there is still some maps which need attention if you are interested; you can assist. As sections i.e (Virginia to Caboolture/Caboolture to Nambour) which is mostly complete with track and signalling but just requires the artists touch. You have put up a impressive effort on Redcliffe, I am sure you can do better on the real thing. PM Myself.

Some further work on QR AEC 100 hp Railmotor. After getting some photographic details and notes from RM 74 at Redlands Museum, the push is on to finish this model.

I have added the doors, side lamps, the front vents, correction of the white strip to suit 1950s/1960s condition, the creation of the seats and added hoses/gangways.

Now to finish off the lavatory, add the windows, transmission block, fuel tank and batboxes.

Hi maattmessi17,
The level crossing is called ... <kuid2:69937:100315:2> QR Level X-ing 2L 3T 90 5m
I like it because you can change the way it looks - right click the "?"

The Redcliffe Line: A quiet afternoon today, so I dragged out a few of my favourites and put them to the test on my new route just to see how they would look. Sorry guys but they are not QR.
Here are a few more screenshots.

Something about the BR Duchess that I like. I think it's the steam!

The Duchess coming around a bend is what grabs me.

Is that an Indian Pacific?
2015_12_04_195718.jpg

Yep! Sure is!
2015_12_04_200947.jpg

No! It can't be a 'Nohab NSB Di3a' - They used that in the KickStarter 'Give-away'.

Anyway, this means that any train will look good on this route. So I'd better get a move on and get it to the finish line.
Cheers,
