Wow Ghosty, terrific looking track/yard work there in these pictures. I wish I could do only half as good a track work myself . Will you released this scenery some time in the future?

Cheers

I will be releasing the map when its ready. It will be one of a series of maps of the Suburban area each designed to be merged to allow you to recreate a large chunk of the Brisbane suburbs or various lines. Due to the era and the way i have made the map you can run steam era and diesel era services up to the point prior to the Brisbane suburbs being electrified. There are many features included in the maps that vanished either in the final days of steam or in the days of Diesel operation. It would be a shame not to have others enjoy the efforts of my dedication of long hours of research and construction, and i will NOT be letting the gutless detractor who might i add thinks they know everything on the subject of QR stop me or hamper this fairly accurate project. I lived through this area something they didnt so i guess we know who has more of an idea of whats right and whats wrong with my work.

Thanks for all the compliments of my work, as you all can see it has evolved nicely over time the long hours of research and study on the subject has helped. the reports from the beta testers are very encouraging there are just a couple of item i need to sort out and stage one should be close to the next round of testing.

I swear i saw S301(no not the steamer)leading a grain train in Ballarat yesterday. Am i seeing things?
This is very possible, as S301 is a PN loco, or though from what I've read she was on the PN scrap list, if such a thing exsisted (there still isn't really any proof) She wheres the old 'Freight Australia' colours or 'patched PN' if you like, and from what I know the loco is in an emaculate condition as it is normally shedded at Newport workshops with Steamrail Victoria and 707 ops. You are also likely to see vintage VR power of CFCLA containers, El Zorro and PN Grainnies and POTAs.

Cheers

I had LET it go and had started to move on but someone could not help themselves and had to run me down again. So clearly my detractor cant let it go and feels the need to keep having unprovoked shots at me for no good reason any time he feels he needs to. I will one last time state if this person has an issue with me and my work bring it to me directly not slag off to others I have put it out there that they contact me with their issues and problem in private but they have not done so. I am happy to let it go, but can the other person involved in this let it go and get on with it. If unprovoked attacks continue i will continue to defend myself. Cricketstar you seem to be the legal expert in this joint what would you do if someone kept slandering you i bet you would not sit and take it would you. you can answer that in private if you so wish to.

Ok I know the joke but still unsure if you really mean its the longest tunnel in Australia its 1.21k's long I would have thought there was a longer tunnel then that..

Sorry, just a daylight saving joke as I am pretty sure there are longer tunnels in Australia. Some tunnel experts divide the topic into single and double track sections. Perhaps one of those people will respond here. Any time a rail expert says an item is either the longest / largest / heaviest or any other extreme, someone soon comes up with a fact to prove them wrong! Google gave http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tunnels_in_Australia

In the same way, the Coolangatta airport runway is used for the same joke as the state border cuts the runway in two.

The bottom line; your route progress is inspiring people here :D

A bit more on perishable traffic for those interested. Add fish and meat to the earlier list of fruit, veges and dairy.

We mentioned traffic from farm to factory and market. Now consider the perishable traffic from market and wholesaler to your local food shops. In the days of old they used those large canvas bags with dry ice inside for ice cream and other frozen foods.

Our mate Bill [Willem2] gave me very modern 20 and 40 foot refrigerated containers a couple of years ago. They are also on the DLS. Bill also has done road trucks for those containers as well as refrigerated delivery vehicles. Look for Nolan's trucks on the DLS.

Where would we be without our third party content creators!

Re the bit I wrote about the Roma Street goods yard connecting line towards Ipswich that was removed in 1972. Not a big matter for the experts and can be either added or removed by the person who downloads your route to suit their desired steam, diesel or electric era. If concerned ask and I will give exact details. Maybe also a better question for that particular Brisbane lines thread.

Scott, I see you had the Mayne turntable in the correct spot in your empty coal train from APM out at Petrie. Remember that paper factory well as we went past on our way to picnics. There was a fair bit on the shunting of that Petrie yard on QRIG group http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/qrig/ You are a member so check their archives or send me a message as I have it somewhere here. Some of that traffic also went to the PA hospital via a siding off the line at Dutton Park.

I think this has been covered in this thread a fair while ago but for the life of me i can't find the page it was mentioned on, I'm mainly looking for info on how far apart the Stanchion's should be. Thank's for any help folk's.

Mick, I had the distance between supports worked out at about 50 meters based on the distance at which the OHW spline repeats. Matt.

Cheer's for that Matt, Any chance when you get time you could post a pic of what you mean by the OHW Spline Repeat's please mate. Railpage Australia has been handy for learning about Aussie track stuff but it's also like learning another language sumtime's lol.
Cheers Mick.

Hi Jaxon and Timo,

S301 had been on lease to steamrail as a backup loco for the past few years, it's also not long come out of a engine rebuild few years ago (about 2009) so I doubt that it was on the scrap list as it costed a fair bit to get the engine overhauled from a badly damage crankshaft.

Cheers.

G'day Azervich/All,

The last thing I heard was late last year, and that was that the locomotive was in the care of Steamrail Victoria - to maintain it and use it on Heritage trains as required, under the condition that it would be handed back to PN when they wanted it. PN did release a list of assets to be scrapped last year, and S301 was on the list. Last I heard, SRV was negotiating to preserve the locomotive and save it from scrap, however I don't know how successful they are. PN seem reluctant to sell anything to preservation groups after X31 went to SRHC, and the day it returned to active service it went on hire to El Zorro. S301's future is bleak, methinks.
