Australian screenshots

*chuckles tiredly* already got the grain silo on the 'outskirts' - haven't thought to put a cattle yard in, as I didn't think about it at the time to be honest...thanks, might find somewhere to shoehorn it in.

It is with sadness to some that i report that they are safe and as i left them, to those patiently awaiting them the good news is they are fine and are back into production.

Well that is good news Ghostryder for more then just my selfish thoughts, I know from the work I have completed (not yet released I should do it), I would be devastated if all that work was lost.

After check up on Google Earth the route you are currently working and looking at your progress images, and getting inspiration from them. I know pretty much the work load you took on when you pondered the task..

NSW to QLD Acacia Ridge.

I just hope I can find the courage to complete the route I have taken to do its a long section of track and I'm finding hard going getting the track run correct or artistically correct..

Just to let you guys know I"m still slogging away at the task in hand..

Although I don't have as much time as I would like to devote to this task I am still working on it..

As Much as I would like to have it completed and on DLS already its not looking like that will happen anytime soon ..

Having worked only 20 K's of track to get it Artistically correct and then checking to see if I can get away with what I have done .. and then looking at the rest of the route that contains some 200k's of track work.. and unlike th track gangs that would have taken a few days (weeks) hard work, to get as far as I have, I also have to do something they didn't and thats recreate the rest of what will be seen.. to do that my route is going to be some 15k;s wide at places and contain a large number of trees houses and other stuff.. OH boy what am I doing, why did I put my hand up for this ... LOL Nah its all good I'll love it.. even more when I can run a train from casino to Port of Brisbane.. without skipping bits of loading a new route.. and setting up a new train to continue the run..

here a few surveyor pics..

the tunnel in the last image no longer exists I found after spending aheap of time making it look like it does that it does not even exists lol..

I hope to get a bare ruff texture route on the DLS soon as I can once the track work is correct and the basic textures are in place.. so you guys can run a train from casino to Port of Brisbane along a merge route.

Its better than anything *I* could ever hope to achieve - well done mate, take your time, work on it when and if you feel inclined, and don't feel pressured, thats where mistakes and such start coming in, we get discouraged and end up giving up.

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into... the realm of the Ghostryder and his recreation of a time long since passed and now nothing but memories and History.
The clock has been turned back through the fabric of time and now arriving on the viewing platform are the offerings of my hard work research and toil Yes its the STEAM era of Queensland Railways. The location Suburban Brisbane. The time long before many of you looking were born.

A scene long since gone Mayne Station it even included a feature not every station had its own bomb shelter. Another Station to have one was Park Road Station which was there atleast into the 1990's.

Hi Jaxon,

Was it PN freight or El Zorro freight? PN don't lease there loco's to other competing companies, they do lease there loco's to preservation groups though.

Cheers.

Dimi_108 - something like these perhaps...(and a huge thank you to Petan, for his invaluable advice)
Thanks for your kind words but I have researched perishable traffic [fruit/veges/dairy etc] as a personal interest for the past few decades. I have pestered various rail Internet groups over the years seeking material so it is time I repaid the various groups. The material I wrote about the earlier time era dairy procedures eg cream churns and farm gate rail platforms etc, may be of interest for anyone working in the earlier steam era.

******Targanon.... the Border Tunnel on your Acacia Ridge route is the "longest tunnel" in Australia. In summer trains from QLD enter at 4pm EST and leave the tunnel into NSW after 5pm ESDT, therefore they take an hour to go through the tunnel which makes it pretty long. True, especially if you change your watch to daylight saving time at the border. Going north it is like a time machine, they enter from NSW at 4pm ESDT and leave the tunnel in QLD around 3pm EST :hehe::hehe: [OK, I know it is just a daylight saving joke as QLD does not have daylight saving]

********************People doing the Brisbane steam era routes; the connecting line from the Roma Street Goods yard to the main line [western line towards Milton and Ipswich] was removed in early 1972. After that goods trains for the west were handled in the Normanby yard on the Exhibition loop line so they did not need that connection from Roma Street goods Yard to the west. The line that was removed almost led straight onto the Countess ST rail bridge which tells you which part of the yard to look if interested.

**********************Ghosty, while you were off line with computer problems we discovered the ARHS NSW were sending a railcar set to Brisbane. see http://www.arhsnsw.com.au/current/t1206.pdf

Petan: If not for you, I'd have no idea what to start 'populating' the small module with (more for screnshot purposes) so thank you, your advice has been most heartily taken on board.

Patchy: Mate, I wish I had 1/100th yours, Zec's and others talen - I can do detailed yards (trackwork and such) no problem at all, absolutely no problem - its populating them, makiing a town and such (as each metre of rail costs a lot of $, so rail companies (say, the NSWGR) wouldn't just make a fairly 'detailed' yard because someone thought 'it might be a good idea!' - they were made for a specific purpose, of course, with Trainz, we're not tied to that 'belief' but I do try to keep it at least 'semi-realistic'. Doing texturing/scenery (other than weeds/trees/etc) is what kills me personally - maybe...just maybe - I should design the yard, etc, then find someone ELSE to 'populate' said yard with buildigns, towns, etc...like a 'group project' as it were...I don't know...just speculating here....

Ok I know the joke but still unsure if you really mean its the longest tunnel in Australia its 1.21k's long I would have thought there was a longer tunnel then that..

Oh Mulibuck Only if I could take you to your words and send my current route to you to get the track work sorted I would be in heaven...

thats the bit that really drives me round the bend .. getting the elevations and track looking just so.. it take same so so long.. and I have 200k's of it to do...
