Australian screenshots

hi
where can i dl the 422 on narrow gauge?
i searched on the black dls,
but no show,
which is nothing unusual

thanks
ron

Sorry at this time its only a play thing for my route and davido was very kind enough to make the NG bogie's for me...

he has stated he may put it up on his web site... But after reading further I see that is not going to be the case...

I cannot release it as non of the work is mine... (not I would even think about releasing someone else's work) I have not asked for permission to release it, even with my route when it comes to completion..

Sorry if I have opened a can of worms on you Davido...

So you want a 422 on 1067mm track. The QR loco with the 422 stuff [V16 645 donk + D32 genny] = QR 2100 class. The 422 has the standard gauge D77 traction motors and the 2100 has the narrow gauge D29 traction motors plus a different body etc.

422 = 108 tons and 72,600 lb starting tractive effort. The 2100 as delivered = 96 tons and 64,500 lb starting TE. Only about a year or two apart in introduction.

The NJ = V12 645 donk 66 tons 39,000 starting TE. The QR 1502 = V12 645 donk 90 tons 60,000 starting TE. The QR 1720 = V8 645 donk 61.5 tons 39,650 starting TE.

But a 422 car body on 1067mm track would look good.

Just a few more. cheers ghosty

The only problem I can see is the Mayne one does not have a car on the bridge looking north and me in the back seat looking out the window at the trains :hehe: :hehe: Date in the 1950s/60s would do. Sometimes it was my turn to have the middle seat but I still managed to see the rail action :udrool: Back then the front seat was a bench seat so the middle position could be front or back as we were a normal sized family for that era so all seats full.

Well its before My time in most certainly in QLD..

if it was 10 years later I would have been in the Blue mountains riding the foot plate of some Loco my uncle drove.. the line was close to my home so I would be down the tracks every chance I had and if my uncle was going by I just needed to run down the bank and he would scoop me up and I'd go for a run with him...

LOL just thinking about it WHS would have a fit these days LOL.......

I'm the one that should be apologizing Tarangon, not you. I was the one that went rivet counter and nitpicked the idea of a 422 on narrow gauge even though it wasn't supposed to be prototypical in the first place. So everyone, I'm really sorry if I caused any problems with my over-eager prototypical ramblings. I tend to get like that sometimes.

Either way, the DC/422 is a really nice model no matter what gauge it's on, not at all surprising considering it's Davido's work. ;)

Incidentally, I can't remember who mentioned about the old CR/AN NJ class resembling the 422 (which they indeed do), except there is one major difference (besides being on narrow gauge) - they only have a single cab and are a little shorter than a 422. But still they're rather close enough from the front anyway. :p

Yeah intention is to put some in, i have been going through swapping out faulty content and other items that are heavy on frame rates. Plus i am looking at bushes that look the part.

So that is what people meant. My earlier reply referred to the inside tech stuff not the body design. As you say, there is a very clear Clyde designed family resemblance between the NOSES of the 422 and NJ Clyde designed locos also seen on the similar nose shaped AL and BL class locos.

That flat slab nose seems to be the “J” part of the loco’s builder’s code; 422 = J26C, NJ = JL22C, AL = JT 26C, BL = JT 26C – 2SS.

The earlier streamlined nose locos as in the VR “S”, NSWGR 42 and the Commonwealth GM classes have the “A” code so the S class is A7/A16C code.

The twin cab NSWGR 421 is the change over design from the A to the J code as it has a streamline nose ["A"] at one end and the early style slab/flat nose ["J"] at the other end so it is an AJ16C. The 16 refers to the earlier v16 567 donk. If it had the later V16 645 donk it would have been coded AJ26C.

John Cleverdon has a webpage on all this so if you really want the whole box and dice with all the trimmings for the Clyde GM/EMD codes read http://users.cdi.com.au/~johnc/lp2_clyde.html

I"m hoping to get it proto when its released in the mean time I'm doing what I suspect others will do and playing around with some lovely loco's and rolling stock on the route.. its a great way of break the load of building. I can make sure things work right and look right...

getting back into 3dmax a building sheds and then get onto heavier items.

suggestions needed please

hi all

i'm still having dramas with the new route that i'm making.
so questions

the first 2 screenshots are from what i done from photos that i took of the area,
but it seems to be rather jerky going through there in surveyor,
even with the sliders on the left

the last 3 screens are from a toned down area besides without too much jerkiness

opinions???

should i go proto or with the last 3

i am really in a quandary about this

no use going on until i go 1 way or the other

not that i have much free time with missy in and out of hospital

anyway, what are your thoughts?

thanks
ron

Dave, wow! :)

I have downloaded and run this V set and I am truely gobsmacked. The attention to detail is second to none. I love that the guards indicator light is on at the back of the train!
I will most certainly support you in your payware adventures and I look forward to the coming models. :mop:

Frankly, besides the obvious empty areas I don't see much difference in the pictures. It doesn't appear that you are using so much content as to make a difference. I wonder if something else is causing your framerate slowdown?
