I have the 60 class book and the only issue I remember of 60 class locos and tunnels was the issue of crew being exposed to extra fumes, hence the horn gizmo on 6011 to assist with ventilation( not successful), mind you I may have missed the single tunnel issue, but i would have thought the loco would have been built within the loading gauge constraints. Will have a look to see if I can find it tonight

cheers
Pete

More here http://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11336500-0-asc-s0.htm and I suggest you read the complete four pages of the thread for lots of historical data.

Cheers

A Classic Screenie

Hello, Everyone.

All this talk over a Garratt is making my head spin like this classic;
"You spin me right round, like a record...right round.":hehe:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey Daniel, could you please chuck in a down Newcastle Flyer, behind 3813, thats could send them druelling.:D

Oh Hey Peter C, great to see you around; hope you could get in some screenies.

Pete, could there be slim chance I could email you about making a bridge something for my SCL which is currently in Beta stage. I hope your not too busy?

Evan, when I get home will send you diagrams and pictures of QR End-Platform carriages AX, BX & CX & a Van (later converted in the late 1920's to Long-Distance Carriages- AL, BL & CL) I love history...I get A's in it :p

Forrest; Are your busy? I Might need your help with my QGR SCL, your the master at route detail, so they say. It looks a bit shabby at the moment, not that good for DSL. PM/Email me if your interested. Oh lastly did you have the current email for John Morty; he has my sheep wagon and I can't get him via email becuase I have new photo's.

THIS IS MY 195th Post soo this calls for.....

Some Back to the 60's Shots with everyone's favourite; the QR 2000 Class Rail-motor.

Back in 1961; Roads were still non-existant or very dangerous, so thats why most people took the train. Here RM 2000 & 2001 pass a unforuntale soul who has a burst tire.

Later; RM 2000 & 2001 pass the ajoining Dam & two men taking a smoko, and the local 'brew'

Just for Colhad, some Clydes....even if I dislike anything after 1969. Anything without Steam is just not that majic, but that what I think.
Here QR 1550 Class 1569 straggles along with a rake of VO hoppers & a iconic TGV van through the Darling Downs region...

Matt, could it be the 60 Class book, I've defiantly heard that somewhere aswell.

This is a small selection of some of the trains one might see just standing at Maitland station for half an hour.
(All these trains appear semi randomly, well the two Intermodals were straight after the midday Up and Down XPT's)

If there are too many shots, tell me and I'll remove some.:D

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Looks good, Is that Hunter line u made?

Cheers

Hello Michael G
The screen picture below dated 1961 has a motor vehicle with a number plate. I can not determine that number plate. What exactly is that number plate, please? I assume it is the Southport QLD line.

Pete, I believe the number plate reads

NVA 435A

Which is impossible in Vic, we have 6-letters on our plates

Jamie

Thanks Jamie!

If it is a QLD car then that is an approx 1964 number plate series and too late for a 1961 screen shot.

NAA 000, the first of the non all digit QLD series, was introduced to QLD in July 1955 and NJP 123 was about 1960.

NVM 123 was about 1964 so that car NVA 435A is about 1963/64 if we forget about the extra "A" suffex.

I realise that we can't change number plates but it was just wishful thinking

G'day Michael, Send 'em over. I'm not very familiar with QR rollingstock, so this should be an interesting learning experience for me. If you have good diagrams of the underfloor arrangements of the car, I'll gladly do the underframe for you. History is an awesome subject . I've always enjoyed history. I was in the top class of my year in year 9 and 10. I've now been using the research skills learned to write my own book on the "dogboxes" designed by William Thow for the NSWGR. And speaking of history, here is a screenshot of a working that has now long passed into the pages it.

44229's driver kicks up through the notches as 44229 and 44204 grind through Karrah Bay in typical Alco fashion with the last Up Gold Coast Motorail on 10th of Febury, 1990.

it'll look good here, I want to show everyone this and for feedback as I'm lacking photo's.
Been working on this locomotive for a few months and going to try finish it off during the summer.
