Australian screenshots

Spent many a happy hour hanging off either of the two road bridges at either end of Queanbeyan Yard. ??? did you get the fuel siding thats oppoposite the skate park :hehe: :hehe:

I tried to find room for a fuel siding, but went with the loco depot instead :). I'll put a fuel siding in at the next yard, just for you!

Very nice Trent :) Will have to hurry up on this log wagon hehe. Also I'm working on the butterboxes/scrap steel containers, so you might have to put in yet another siding :p

Tom :)

Oh no! Perhaps I'll have to build a whole bloody steel mill :).

Catanery for NSW S Set

Hi guys!!

I have recently downloaded the middle carriage for the NSW S Set, thanks Deadly for helping me with that. I wondere though, what is the correct catanery height/ actual catanery spline for this set. I am hoping to include Davidos V Set on the same line and dont want the S Set's catanery getting in the way. Please help.

Thanks, SARRailways :):D:):D

I know I'm still a fair way from complete, but it's sometimes nice to see progress of peoples routes - seeing some "finished products" without the steps in between, it makes the route look kinda daunting. That's why I like seeing Muliebuck and mattm's screenshots especially, as it's a step by step to the finished product.

Raichase, thank you. I am touched, quite deeply. It's nice to know that someone appreciates the lift that seeing an in-development route is capable of providing. Particularly to someone new to the sim.
Granted; the shots we see from people such as 3830 and Deadly (beaut shots, BTW, mate) are from areas that have had much love and attention given to them, but for me, that's kinda off-putting. What we are seeing is the end result of days/weeks/months of effort, remember. We very rarely see the badly rotated textures, molehills for mountains, and ghost towns that eventually develop, after much effort, into the shots we do see.

Personally, and no offense is meant to anybody, but i would prefer to see shots of an in-development route, over a finished product, that has been touched and re-touched to perfection; any day! With the WIP shots i can look at them, and say, 'hey, my route looks like that. Maybe we all start like this'; or 'oh, so that's how that developed.' It's about drawing inspiration/cofidence from the fact that even the best routes available start out as a blank baseboard, with a few key structures/tracks, etc laid out, and build up slowly from that.

The acorn came before the oak, yeah? Anyways, my apologies for boring you to tears with that; just thought i'd get it out there. Who knows, maybe there are more people who think like this out there?

Cheers, as always,

Matt.

Edit: Forgot to say, nice screens Raichase. I like the setup you have for loco there.

According to Railcorp 4.57m minimum on normal track 5.8m maximum height to the contact wire. I've made the v-set pants 5.3m which is similar to the s-set .....the m-set is way higher though :(

Actually, I'd prefer to see both - nothing inspires me as much as seeing an awesome screenshot showing an area that has had the utmost care and attention to detail put into it. It helps see exactly what is possible with this sim of ours!

EDIT: Gah, I missed a texture there! DOH!

The OXC's are the in-built to 06' wagons by nat. Do you mean OSF? The latter have always been a problem.

Trent I'm quite sure that Wool Bale load is way out of the loading guage:hehe:

Daniel
Any idea what wagons you have running on that map?
It'll one that has auto roadnumbering.

Updated version of SAR Melton Valley uploaded. I don't know what happened

I tried to Edit Route... all of the content comes up fine. I went to Create Session... likewise all of the content comes up fine. All 161 dependencies (???). So doesn't seem like a layer issue.

So with the update, I've noticed a larger size file sitting in the "waiting area" compared to the first effort. But I've done nothing different (???).

Anyway, hopefully the kuid2 update works out, which is now on the DLS. Can someone post back with the number of dependencies Content Mangler displays, please??

Well done Forestrunner, its a very nice compact modular route, I have no faults with it, and commend you for the attention to detail. Well done indeed :)

Hurleyco: I can see where you're coming from - that certainly looks a prize alright, but wow - shame we can't get an exploded view to look at it all in easier to manage parts, rather than as the whole - I imagine it'd be a lot easier - definitely looking deeply detailed, thats for sure :)

Same here Forest_runner. Excellent modular route :) A+ and you can go home early as a reward.

Edit: Forest_runner after looking over the route in surveyor for sometime I must commend you on the attention to detail. Even the smallest of things seems to be in the right place. It is simply a Modular Route Masterpiece. One to be very proud of. I already have taken some ideas from it and implemented them into my fictional route.

Edit 2: Question, Forest_runner, the flag outside the station, the flowers around it seem to give the impression the shape of Australia. Or am I just going blind in my old age or playing tricks on me?

I also concur with the dependencies 161 and all works perfectly.

Electro, Mulie and Trent... thanks ever so much for the positive feedback. I'm glad it all worked out in the end.

Special thanks to 2 guys who started it all for me (after a huge length of time of constantly starting and never finishing routes!):
- Mulie who inspired the whole idea of modular routes, and gave me ideas on texturing, examples of content, and quite simply the lay of the land.
- axe1970 who really showed what can be achieved with some time and patience (aka Georgetown to Tarin Rocks route).

Many ideas taken from the works of these 2 guys.

EDIT: Trent's question about the flowers... totally unintentional if that's the case. Funny stuff. I'll have to check it out when I get home.

Well... That's one of the advantages of modeling in Autocad... I'm using Layers... For instance, the Frames have their own layer, the Driving Axleboxes' Saddles have their layer, the Driving Axleboxes have theirs, the Driving Axles' Suspension have theirs... etc.

At the moment, I have 11 Layers, 5 of wich are for the Pony Truck alone...

Hi Hurlyco
That is fantastic looking!

Going by your earlier post, I take it you won't be trying to get this into Trainz? :P

If not, I would love to take a go at making a Trainz version of it. However, I would be interested in seeing how well it goes for baking the textures (now there's a weekend project... hit render and walk away for a weekend! :P ). In particular with all that rivet detail in there :)

Good luck with it, I will be very interested to see the finished product :)

It is 3' 6"... I've never thought it was right, modeling a Qld Loco to Standard Gauge... So, I'm not going to bother Making a Standard Gauge Version...

(this might stir something... :hehe: )

And S301, Looks like I am putting it into Trainz... A few people have requested it now, so...
