Raiding the DLS of Davido's stuff again. Had to reinstall TRS 2009 again to try and sort out some downloading issues. Seems to have worked, the DLS and CMP are communicating where as before they weren't for some reason.

Hi guys.

First up - nice screenies everyone. Both routes and locos/rollingstock are looking fantastic! Keep up the great work.

Secondly - I have just installed TS2010 to finally get rid of 09. I get it started and get as far as the routes screen and click on what I want to run on. It the crashes and shuts down. Any ideas? I need some help if you can.

Thanks in advance.

TRS2009 CMP tends to stop working after a while when downloading. Quite often I'd be downloading a large list of content but CMP will crash. It does seem to be an internet issue but not sure in what area. Would anyone have an idea as to what could be causing this??

Colhad, I am not sure what you are seeing but this may help. When CMP installs content it also goes through a process to change things or compress files to it's requirements. What you may be seeing is not CMP actually "crashing" but waiting for a moment and processing a large file. Watch in the top left corner of the Download Helper and you will see 3 notices of what's happening. The first and obvious is "Downloading", then you see "Installing". If you just downloaded a large file (say 5MB+) then the time taken to install can be some seconds or more. If you download a large file and then another large file, it may look like CMP stops half way through downloading the second large file while it finishes "installing" the first file. If you are downloading only small items then the installing process is very fast. The 3rd notice you will see of what is happening is "idle" and this is when CMP is finished downloading and installing all the content you had in your list.

Have a look at this and see if it is what you are seeing. When I first started playing with 2006 I saw something similar to what I think you are seeing. Recently when I got back into 2009 I saw the same thing again until I read a post similar to mine. Then I installed 2010 and saw it again, especially when downloading Jan's trees which are very large (5-10MB each for some) and that's when I saw exactly what the person posted in the thread I read. Its seems as though CMP can hold around 10MB before it has to stop downloading and finish the "installing" process before proceeding with the "download" process.

I hope I explained this OK and it makes some sense.

See how you go and let us know.

Thanks Craig, yeah I think you've explained it well. I guess I will have to be a bit more cautious and maybe download a bit slower. The problem comes then when you download a route, how many goes at downloading all the content will I have to try??

I just spent the afternoon fixing 1 typo, got all the way to beta three on a set of three cars, only to find a typo that I missed when I set up the initial drawings on planes in gmax, the cars were 6 feet short:hehe:, no matter all fixed now. The beta testers will love me. funny, no one noticed. The only reason I found it was because I was planning a set of steel bodied cars of nearly the same length and being lazy I was going to use the same planes and was checking the size of the planes.

cheers

I have not tried any layouts for a while Colhad, so I am not sure. Maybe make sure something good is on TV :hehe:. Just watch those messages and see if that may be part of your problem and the possible "crash" you are seeing. The only other thing is if a route needs a lot of content and some of it is large then it will take time to download and for CMP to convert them over.

I am not really sure by what you mean about "goes you will have to try" to download the route, does it actually crash you out of 2009 to the desktop or something similar?

 Hi Mitch
when you start 2010 and you have the main Flash page open so you can see Railyard route's and so on, go Main Menu - click Options - Survyor Settings scroll down till you find ( Only display Favorite content )
make sure there is no tick in there ,
If they dont show check CM make sure that they are commited and dont have any error's.

Hope this helps. :D

Hey Electro!

Sorry about deleting the post above. I post questions in the Australian Screenshots forum because the people here are so helpful, but I forget sometimes that people don't like the screenshots forum flooded with questions.

Thanks though! I'll give that a try!

Cheers!
Mitch

P.S. Nice Screenshots too!
