Australian screenshots

What happened to my earlier post an hour or two ago in this thread?

I made a valid comment regarding a now removed post (which has been more heavily criticised by others in this thread), and complemented axe1970 on his work in an earlier post.

Have I been banned from this thread, or is some kind of hemisphere-ism at work?

Anyway, I'll try again. Nice work axe1970!

Nice stuff Dimi.

Tell you what... do yourself a favour if you haven't done it yet. Pop over to Davido's site (Worrybrook Station) and pick up his 5 strand fence pack - listed in the "More Freeware" page.

Then do a "replace assests" on that default content fence in the first shot with one of Davido's (either version will suit). It would make that already beautiful shot picture perfect. ;)

Good Morning All
A number of off-topic posts have been removed.

We do not mind a bit of discussion over screenshots from time to time, however this is a screenshots thread. As such, we would prefer to see everyone posting screenshots where possible. Giving feedback on a layout/screenshot/etc is fine, as is discussing historic information for a particular layout/screenshot (if you've not posted a screenshot, then a new thread may be a better idea to obtain this information), and of course asking for information on where to find particular assets is fine, since not everyone may know the name of the asset being shown :)

However, posting off-topic posts will not be tolerated.

Hi Zec, I totally agree with you. However, this then highlights an anomaly in the forums. australians do not have a forum to call their own and that there are language forums here I would like to submit that nv3 creates an australian language forum. Given that there are many germanic language forums, German dutch and afrikaans to mention the main three, it is only proper and non discriminatory, that there should be an Australian language forum. the evidence to support this is as follows;

Australian English (AusE, AuE, AusEng, en-AU[1]) is a major variety of the English language and is used throughout Australia. Although English has no official status in the Constitution, Australian English is Australia's de facto official language and is the first language of the majority of the population.
Australian English started diverging from British English after the founding of the colony of New South Wales in 1788 and was recognised as being different from British English by 1820. It arose from the intermingling of children of early settlers from a great variety of mutually intelligible dialectal regions of the British Isles and quickly developed into a distinct variety of English

Australian English is relatively homogenous when compared with British and American English. The major varieties of Australian English are sociocultural rather than regional, being general, broad and cultivated Australian. There is however some regional variation between the states, particularly in regards to South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia. These differences come down to different preferences for word usage, as well as some pronunciations. The australian Language even has its own dictionary. given that, it is surely a recognition of a seperate language

I am certain that there is broad Australian community support for such a forum and request that one be set up so that Trainz fans from Australia can converse with each other in a language and environment supportive of their cultural and linguistic roots. This is an earnest request and not mischief making.

Pete

I agree exactly with what Peter d602000 above said as we need a general Australian discussion thread apart from the screen capture thread. Great place for technical trainz eg tips about Aussie related download material as well as historical Aussie railway discussions from any region of our country! We have people from many other countries posting here about Australian trains so they should be welcome in that regard, besides which their posts have already shown interesting Aussie content anyway!

Cheers

I disagree - people would still come here for support and besides, this thread gets the most attention with Aussie Trainz Players/hobbyists, and the support given in the subforum would be lower due to less people. I think that makes sense

hi peter

good post mate, but i do have 1 burning question.
you mention that the australian Language even has its own dictionary.

i would love the answer to this please.

where do i find such a thing as an australian language dictionary?
my wife has been looking for one for years.

even i could use it for my fassifern valley route, just to get some of the signs right.

i'm still waiting for the new pc to start working or i would have posted a screenshot.
until then, all i can do is read the forums

Oh that's a wicked photo Steve. When would that photo with the VR B class be set in? 1960's?

Can you release one of your routes please?

this thread gets the most attention with Aussie Trainz Players/hobbyists, and the support given in the subforum

Hi H222, the only reason it gets attention is because there is nothing else, this thread announces more new content and routes for Australians because people tend to gravitate to it. I was not suggesting a sub forum to this I was suggesting a dedicated forum for all things Australian. If you look in the other language forums you will find that they do exactly what we do here. this thread has never been a truly screenshot thread it is an Australian community forum pure and simple. I just want NV3 to recognise that and the easiest way to do it is to make it a forum for people who speak Australian english. I can easily demonstrate that through the spellchecker for the forum, it continually tells you your spelling is incorrect and wants you to change it to American english. So even the forum software recognises our English as being different.

cheers

Hehe, maybe if I finish one! :hehe: That photo would be set around the 60s/70s...

G'day Jamie, I just modified the blue and gold by grabbing them off Tim's VR F7 Units... just applied a colour filter over the B's in Photoshop...

G'day Jaxon, you make it sound like I made the B! :p I cannot take credit, it is an older model by cjlear from 2004, I just updated the textures and added a groundplane. I appear to have lost the ability to use the renumbering though, so the 66s on the B were photoshopped on :)

75 years ago today the 23rd of November, at 6:30pm, the Spirit of Progress departed Spencer Street Station for Albury on it's first public service.

These two pics are a tribute to this train :)

S301 sits in the platform with one minute to go before departure...

A few moments later, the guard has given the green flag, and the mighty S class is on it's way!

Whoa. The Victorian scene is really popping off today. Awesome.

Zec that's a killer shot. Love how you noted "75 years ago today"... jaw dropping.
