Australian screenshots

More for those still interested in the NSWGR 40 class usage. The following single engine load tables from the 5 May 1968 Southern Division NSWGR Working Timetable P.252. North Strathfield to Goulburn; 40 class 600 tons; 43 class 700 tons; 42, 421, 44 or 45 class locos 800 tons. The 48 class branch liner did 600 tons, same as 40 class.

Remember the 40 class is A1A-A1A 1600 HP with an Alco 244H V-12 and 43 class is also an ALCO 244H v12 1600 HP engine but with all wheel drive CO-CO bogies. Thus the 43 class's CO-CO bogies allows an extra 100 tons haulage ability to Goulburn. 40 class had GE 752 and 43 had GE 761 traction motors and both had a GE GT 581 generator.

So using a 40 class on a lighter train saves using a loco from the 42, 421, 44 or 45 class group on that lighter train which in turn allows more of the 42, 421, 44 or 45 class group to be used on a heavier train instead.

I have access at home to a list of every loco that operated over the Lachlan Lines during the State Govenment days - pre open access.

That would be solid gold to historians!! You would thus also have the details of that time the Southern Aurora, Spirit of Progress and the Melbourne holiday extras went through Cowra due to the derailment on the mainline north of Harden. Read about that in various magazines over the years.

Fixed this one the same way i did with the 40's.

Beautiful Simon, been a while since you've posted much here. Same with me I spose

Bloody Real Life

Jamie

Yes Jamie, real life it is... along with progress on my home HO (P87) scale works. Amazing stuff for the Aussie market these days. I'm having a ball sound fitting locos and weathering rolling stock! So virtual trainz has taken a bit of a back seat at the moment.

Axe-man... nice shot as we come to expect. I love your distant weather effects (fog I presume?) and the skies you incorporate. It's always a joy to view those kind of screenies here.

Oh, yeah... drop one in of my own. A rare angle for me. I generally do ground level, but here's an elevated, trailing panorama shot that I thought looked ok...

It's a shame though, about the bad alpha effects on those grills, or is that a bad LOD effect?

Your screenshot reminds me of just about every train I have stopped and watched from a nearby hill; the last bit you see and remember is just as shown in your screenshot; the train fades off into the distance and you are left standing there "enjoying the moment!!"

Doesn't matter if it is the "Brisbane Limited" or the "Sunlander" or 3813 on a NSW tour train through the Brisbane suburbs or "The Australind" led by X 1007 returning to Perth or the XPT departing Casino this year, I have stood and watched them all charge off into the distance and "enjoyed the moment"! Thank you for rekindling my memories!

Hello today I would like to announce that I am planning to build the North Australia Railway as I have started the 7km stretch from Larrimah to Birdum
my concern is that there is no rollingstock for this but I will be learning how to create stock. The first section is flat so transdem is not needed. I would
dislike to say I have a short attention span but I will try to complete this for everyone.

Good luck with your project as you will need it. Will your route eventually go to or past Pine Creek? As I have fond memories of Pine Creek and especial the General Store with its HUGE crocodile on the wall when there in the early 70s.

*Edit: I just noticed your post was edited and changed to a different route by you, I guess this was the shortest attention span ever by you :p.

While I am here, I would like to ask people who have seen the CSR Class locomotive live (not from pictures) from SCT Logistics (in my signature pic below) to send me a PM as I have the 1st LOD on bogies and body finished later today to check the CSR Class if it needs some adjustments. For d/load the CDPs with the 1st LODs only from my web site but not needed to test, as she is driving and pulling OK, but to look it over for any visual discrepancies or similar as I am using the SCT/LDP engine specs reduced to 115km top speed. I have NEVER seen the SCT Class live myself and I have build it only from the few pictures available from the Net and pics supplied by young Mick Oakley.

Thanks and cheers

Thanks Forest. Just trying to keep up with you.
My shots mostly include fog, as I like the effect. Especially in the morning or evening. Seems to work well in TS2012.

I think I might have gone a bit overboard on the new Shrubs in the Ts2012 version. Still getting 30 - 50 fps with 5 consists operating.

Amazing screen shots

Good weather fog also helps to give the effect of the heat haze of summer

I'm going to mess around with the good weather fog now. Like Bear's idea of summer haze. Guess the secret is not to pile it on too thick.

Also, that crack about overboard on shrubs in TS12... NO, NOT AT ALL. LOOKS FANTASTIC!! Great screens Axe!

Thanks for the coments guy's.

About the shrubs, I have almost finished alining the entire route with the same quantity of shrubbery. Hopefully that won't effect frame rates.

.... and here are three more screenshots.
