Asset Updates

Shane,
Thanks for your earlier solution to my initial problem. I have now downloaded and installed all but four of the updates I started out with (plus one or two new ones).
When selecting the four remaining ones, the pop-up appears with the "Download/Install" button greyed out. Checking in CMP shows that what appear to be the latest of all four assets are present locally (and another database repair makes no change).
Is this a problem with my data base or something for N3V to work on? Can I get them off my waiting list somehow?

Now - forgive my ignorance - but what and where are the "black pages"?

Mike

There are a few updates that are for later versions.

Shane

@Dermmy:

How did you manage to locate both of those items on the black pages, Andy? I tried every method of listing the KUID and came up with bupkis for all of my 41 items. None of them showed up as found.

What did you enter for the search? KUID? If so, how did you type it. I've tried using the following:

KUID:xxxxx:yyyy
<KUID:xxxxx:yyyyy>
xxxxx:yyyyy
xxxxx yyyyy

and all sorts of combinations. Nothing gave me a hit.

I've checked every checkbox on the page too from the original Trainz to 2012.

I think what bugs me the most is that three of these are built-in. Nothing built-in should be unlocatable on the DLS.

Just search the 'middle bit' (enter 1234:5678 to find kuid2:1234:5678:2) tick all versions and don't forget the 'KUID' radio button...

Andy :)

Just did it and "no results found". I ticked everything and hit the radio button. I copy/pasted your KUID search text also. Nothing.

When I clicked your links, I could see the item BUT it showed up as "not available". Clicking 'add to cart' puts it in the download helper BUT it also says "content invalid" and won't even attempt to down load it.

I really fail to see why I cannot search and find them and you can.

Bill

They are TR09 content, so should be good to go with your registerd TS10. The only thing I can think of is that they are old-built-ins on the DLS for TS12 users...

Andy

I think I may have an idea of what's happened.

The FTP location reveals all. At least one of these items is a TS2010 builtin for TS12 users only.

Shane

EDIT: Both of them are. N3V need to sort this out so the items in question only appear on a search by a TS12 user.

That's all well and good, but I am USING a few of those assets in one of my routes in 2010. It won't appear now that there is an "update" available. My best action is to just delete it off my route and then delete it from my database.

If it is built-in to 2010, then when they put it up for 2012 users they should have changed the KUID, not made it an update. That action simply messed up us 2010 users big time.

shaneturner12: First of all I apologize for Bumping this thread..But I'm getting a Stack Dump quickdrive.gs(1) Line 1366 train.gs(1) can you help please??

Sounds like you may need to run a database repair on that one, as the Quickdrive rule does not normally do that unless it is somehow corrupt/faulty.

If that fails, you may have to look into reinstallation.

Shane: Thank you for your quick response..I've done two data base repairs looks like I'm headed for the reinstall..

Back On-Topic :)

It won't appear now that there is an "update" available...

Bill

Not sure what you mean there Bill. The availability of an update doesn't stop the earlier installed asset from working exactly as it always did, the only change is that the asset is now flagged in CM.

One of the shortfalls of the update system is that TS10 will show an asset as 'update available' even if the update is Trainzbuild TS12 only. You have to be a bit careful downloading, though the inappropriate build items are highlighted red in the download list but the only thing I can think of that would stop an asset from appearing is that you have downloaded a TS12-only update into TS10.

Another shortfall appears to be that an asset originally placed on the DLS as an old built-in available to TS12 users only remains available to TS12 users only following an update. Surely the update should be available to all users with a supported product assuming the update has an appropriate Trainzbuild...

Andy

Well, for whatever reason, three of my items will not show up on my routes. It may be a coincidence that all three are Blue Sky International. They are not faulty, but do show as having an update AVAILABLE (which we all know to not be true). In-game, the items are not visible. I don't know the reason for that.

I have since removed most of them from my routes and deleted them from CM. It is pretty easy to do that as all I have to do is delete the item and then do a "remove missing assets" from the route. What's hard, is looking all over for the 'hole' left by the item.
