As far as Thomas goes, she has a point...

and to add insult to injury, they gave Hank a western accent.

Considering the K4s locos worked mainly in the northeast, wouldn't it be more appropriate to give him a Brooklynese accent?

A western accent, huh? And I think they likened him to a Hollywood hero! If they wanted that sort of engine, it'd probably be more appropriate to base him on a Southern Pacific GS-4!:)

A brooklyn accent...oh no, completely wrong for A K4 give it a Pittsburgheese accent...after all, the K4 was just for the Pennsylvania RR.

PRR 1361 and ebt 14 should stand side by side at mount union if 1361 is sent to strasburg insted of steam town in the frist place to be repaired:D

The prose is very well written, but the point she makes proves how "thick" she is and how "thick" large chunks of the world's population are.

Electricity, unless produced by hydro-dams, wind or wave turbines, generates much more pollution than steam pr diesel locomotives through the conversion process. (A certain amount of energy will always be wasted in the energy conversion process.) Power stations either burn fossil fuels or use the energy stored in nuclear fuel rods - the spent uranium or plutoneum rods must then be disposed of.

The electric trains themselves may be clean (and in the large cities, that is a real bonus) but the place where the electricity is produced can be a living hell - until 2008 when work began to transform it, the smoke from Drax power station near Doncaster could be smelt from 50 miles away!

That's not entirely true, large power stations are generally much more efficient than lots of individual diesel engines, and modern power stations burning gas or oil produce a lot less pollution per kW produced than an internal combustion engine. As you already mentioned, more and more electrical power is produced by "green" methods such as wind / wave and tidal power and nuclear power produces no pollution other than a teensy bit of radio active waste

other than that, I can't believe how some woman's joke blog post has produced so much serious business!

EDIT: Oops I need to lrn2 read the whole thread before quoting a post on the first page:hehe:
