Article: Trainz Community Edition - Round 2

Tony,

Here in Ballarat got a good speed averaged 1MB/sec over the whole download, better than most downloads i get.

Only issue was when i got it downloaded from the aussie best server link the 2b file was corrupt trued to re download with the same result when unzipping. went to the world wide server downloaded again no problems unzipped installed started to play with settings etc made a few OOPS and best fix was to delete and re install all went without any problems have it all set correctly and am importing older CDP files to see how it goes want to load my version of NSW main south line which i have been upgrading in TS 12 to use andis fixed track points etc. So far it looks good.

Only issue i have had was trying to use quick drive it didnt show any available consists to place on track.

The Data base rebuilds FAST WOOHOO yes content manager is basic in looks BUT works better than old 3.7 but understand that is in the works so no complaints.

AS for the 64 bit workings it looks to work perfect spreading the load evenly across ALL 8 of my cores havent had an issue with my AMD crossfire setup YET so all is good there will letyo

Hello Tony!
Greetings from Las Vegas! I downloaded the client in about 24 minutes and it seems to be running great! I have all sliders and graphic options selected without any issues yet. Great framerate, but some minor issues with shadow textures when looking through steam from the engine. Thanks for the early release and letting us play around a bit!

I downloaded the game today and tried out the Hinton Division and the Healsville routes.
First impressions: needs a bit of work. The C&O Berks have very overactive safety valves (I had to shut off my sound because they were going off all the time) and the game itself was very laggy and glitchy. Also, the first time I drove the Healsville intro, I got a "train derailed" tab and the train started to move on its own even though the brakes were on.
Suggestions: fine tune the safety valve and/or boiler pressure parameters. Also, give the C&O Berks a more realistic whistle instead of the generic whistle from the original Trainz. I think the game could use some more fine tuning, but that'll come in time.
Final Judgement: This game has the potential to become a fantastic product that'll easily beat Dovetail's offerings. With fine tuning and bug killing, I'll give the final, retail release of T:ANE a gold star for sure. Keep up the good work Tony! :D:clap::Y:

Hi Tony, Well done guys! I had a reasonably good download taking just under 4 hours and no hic-cups. I found the download instructions to be clear and easily understood. Each layout takes approximately one to two minutes to open, so I'm pleased with that. The graphics of the consists give a low and squashed-like appearance but generally long distance views are great. I like the full page map which will make it easier to use. I'm not being critical, just some positive feedback. When I tried out a new blank layout, I placed an "AJS Station 1 x 110s" down and noticed that 14 of the 20 passengers were standing at base level on the track whilst the other 6 just looked down at them. I tried to make adjustments without any luck. Another "AJS Station" showed the passengers but they are fixed at ground level and were not adjustable. I then placed "Station Wallangarra" down and no passengers appeared at all. I also noticed in "Topology - adjusting Plateau" my mouse 'arrow' was not centred in the circular adjustment area and appeared to the far right or far left of the circle, which would make it difficult to pinpoint any topography adjustments. I agree with Rio-Grand-Steam about the overactive safety valves - they are very noisy and continuous. I did the Melbourne Cup run and found at its destination, I was unable to de-couple the loco and pull the guard-van to the other end. The 'de-coupling' button didn't respond, but I was able to via the Navigation instructions. So, I guess these are just a few glitches that need sorting out. Overall, it's a pretty good start and I look forward to any enhancements for the final package. Fantastic work guys!

As a temporary fix for that squashed appearance, I use a window rather than full screen. I look at something that should be round like a gauge in a cab or a Berkshire's driver (wheel) and adjust the window for round rather than oval.

Hi, I'm new to Trainz. I downloaded TANE:CE and installed with no problem, when I started it a window opened up 'Asset Downloads' It downloaded everything and installed accept for 'SC274-dep(part1)' part 2-4 downloaded and installed without a hitch. 'SC274-dep(part1)'downloaded and then got hung-up on 'download complete, installing' it just sits there. I waited 45 minutes before stopping it. Tried several times with same result, any suggestions?

I was building a new route, which is my finest joy in this game, but suddenly the game just shut down. Lost all the unsaved progress. It is to be expected of course, but shut down without any crash? Also i noticed the slowness while building rails at the correct point, when the mouse pointed in the circle the rail would appear elsewhere far from the connection point. All of this is no big deal since it's not a finished product, but i wonder if others have noticed it. So, route building isn't a smart move at this point, to much irritating factors like not connecting rails at the wanted point ;). To me (maybe thats personal) I don't see any difference in graphics except the shadows. Personally the sky is not so realistic (again my opinion) as it is in TS 12 the clouds look flat and not so 3D as in TS 12. I really can't see the graphics improvement that Trainz is so excited about... I bought specialy for this game a I7 system with a very fast graphic card from asus. and i noticed some hick-ups in driving a train. I have to wait and see if the real game later next year will improve my happiness... so far, i am not impressed. And yes guy's i do appreciate your work on this game, because i really enjoy to build route's! but graphical i did expect more...

Hi (Yoshic) here or Roy real name well games you know. I am a veteran with (Trainz) and
had the first one around 2001? had 2003,2006, and later 2010, NOW 2015-CE ?
First WELL DONE Im still on an old computer (PC) with the 2006, Had trouble around
that time Women, well computer email break downs as well?
Had to restart again in 2010 register as old done for.
Trainz has been one of the very best engineering and modelling games with built in driving senarios ever?
I do hope you now keep it that way. (Trainz) (Auran) (N3V Games) and now (T:ANE-CE)?
First Download went great about 1 and half hours? Problems yes did not work correctly and did
not set up files correctly? however may have been my mistake as My brother in Australia
had some as well.I an English and in Engaland (Im not United Kingdom)(or British) although
I have to put up with that the same as my brother after becoming an Australian 40
odd years ago (he is still known as a Pom) So I so and will stick with it as now after
resetting computer and sending some files to another Tb drive the reload went in and
was very successful at completing fully with a scan afterwards. I do have a top grade computer
now 12g ram quad core i7 you know the stuff. Well its ok programmers taking years
to make in game (routes) I do that myself and haven't even now drove most of the
2010 Trainz routes. I have however been busy making my own and still haven't finished some
of them. The biggest question is (T:ANE-CE) going to because of the on going as (Auran) (N3V Games)
and now You going to provide? Proper quality and or build in Kuid:s that have come from ?
2006? 2009? most of all 2010 or 12 that will be accepted so transfers can be done????
This is the most important part of the whole game? Building your own.
NOT spending lots of cash on although large driving game that up to now
has taken 5hrs 30 minuets and I still haven't got there yet.
Have you thought of sitting in one place pushing a mouse button
evertime you pass a signal?? I know it my resemble real trains???
my buddy drives them ?? Where are the 2015 Virgin look a like Trains?
And you only have a few Steam trains that can only be described as pitiful?
However I still say well done and I do understand programming this will not
look well on your disk and I dont think you will be able to fix all before 27 Feb 2015?
unless you have a massive programming team?
PS My Brother and I will stick with it and give as much feed back as possible
he is an engineer by the way, good or bad please don't take this personally
I want to help you by giving this and other information as it crops up .
Looking down the track as they say keep shunting. I have 64bit

I can see I had similar don't give up on the first screen it asks you where you want to send your
(saves) may be big files to ( just a suggestion if you have another drive in your computer in the settings box given)
but you will have to set up in your second drive a (folder useualy with your name first then\ thenN3V Games)them\
TANE once that is done the start box give you a chance to send it to another place.
Hope you can follow this if not get more help. I altererd mine this way and had to relog in for security but
a new completely clean load was checked and done in about 2 hrs hope this helps
BE Careful if it all goes wrong just stat again they will have your login info
so will let you try again GOOD Luck

Hi Well, I had done testing and doing some runs, I had several crashes back to desktop, freezing, when saving at the over wright tick yes game froze, had to restart.
spent over four hours setting up a new layout, then crash back to desktop.
No it is not my computer, checked with NV3.
Beskster181 from Ballarat said that he downloaded from the aussie server, and me, my brother from the global server, he had problems as well, so he reinstalled, said that after that all was fine. so I have done the same. Now, I am rechecking out the whole thing again, one of the other big problems was after shutting down, the going back and opening ,well trying to open it would not start from either the desktop, of from the tane.exe.
So now to start all over again. Tony could you or Brendon check this out please it may help others, I will continue to check.

Hi, Tony ,Brenton

Well after a new install, I started on the Melbourne to Stony Point line again.

3hrs, was concentrating on creating an underground station, just about got there, then crash, back to desk top. There was not much content on the layout, just a small piece of track this time, while fiddling then the crash, no warnings, this has happed to me several times now, but this is the first after the new install.

win 7 prof 64 bit
intel i7 2600@3.4g (8 cpus)
16mb ram

NVidia GE force 570 factory over clocked

running on 1920 x 1080.

I have sent Brenton all my details not heard from yet.

So How can I create new layout when this happens.

help

I have a lot of hair but at this rate I will be bald

Anyone have a problem with black ground textures?

At medium distance the textures turn black using Direct X. With Open GL this doesn't occur. I'm using ATI 7800 series card, updated drivers, shadows turned off.

Ok? So I don't get any of this stuff and am ????????????????????????????????????????????????
So I'm all confused. Ok, bye.

your friend,

Cody

Well Happy New Year every one. Will it be though Ive tried to drive the Uk Edinburg route Hmmm
First five hours, with lots of mistakes to many to mention? Tunnels with no roof and trees in the air
that sort of stuff. Another 4 and a half hours after several rests on pause?? got to Newcastle saved
again Then after only do half an hour now because of crashed back to desktop risks it happens
all the time. Ill may be make it if I keep trying Ill let you know? As far as starting to build
not worth it with this nothing is worth putting on any canvas? When are you going to start getting the faults fixed?
AND ITS NOT MY COMPUTER Its your programming and the lack of doing something Positive.
Please Start before we all give up. I don't think you can fix this by February????

Downloaded, installed and opened the Mac version: got into the first train (Hinton) and started up, changed to outside view, hit pause, came back and hit play, can't get back into the cab. Game over, can't drive from out here!

Downloaded and installed the Windows version on Win 8.1 running in Parallels Desktop. Hit "Launch Trainz" and immediately got " Renderer initialization failed. Parallels Desktop provides a graphics interface called Parallels Display Adapter (WDDM). I'm checking with them.
