Article: Trainz 12 Service Pack 1

Install worked fine but...

Well, I did the install of the new patch and everything went well.

I started with a fresh install of TS12, then did the SP1 patch, and everything works well.

However, I am trying to update a SP1 copy of my A and SLT 7.6 Layout & Session, and it hangs in Content Manager every time, so I can't up load a fix for it to run in the new patch.

Hope there's some help out there for this.

Thanks,

I'm over six hours into trying to install this patch, so I cancelled it and decided to wait for the all clear. I first hit cancel a half hour ago. Edit:

I task managered the JA converter, found out that it was processing ts12 part e. Is this what it's catching on? How many parts are there to this letter? Why wouldn't the patch stop installing till I forced the JA converter to shut down?

Lucky for me after that it shut down the patcher all the way so the game is still able to be patched again if I want but with how many hours it was taking and how long it hung there, I'm not sure if I want to in recent history, I might wait for SP1.5.2

I hope you realise that using end task/end process on JAConverter will mess up your installation...

There are 8 .ja files - all are above 800MB in size (5 of them including ts12e.ja are over 1GB in size), and the patch can take anything up to 12 hours in some cases. Bear in mind that you will have to install the patch in order to be able to install any hotfixes.

I downloaded this patch as a saved file and then ran the file. The first half seemed to run ok then everything seemed to stop. Leaving the file to run for over half an hour it did eventually update my program. But oh I wish I hadn't bothered. My graphics now can't keep up with the speed of even slow trains and rendering is very intermittent and sometimes not there at all. I was hoping for a better program after the update but so sadly disillusioned. I think I will stick to the Microsoft software now.

Shane I fully understand, however creator in question suspects bugs in SP1 which will eventually be fixed by the team.
I like you do not want to exacerbate the current position.
I am also fed up with reading all the adverse comments.
So for the time being I will continue to ignore the patch until
a) creators do what is necessary to fix their content
b) N3V develop a diplomatic division to smooth out the complaints and categorize them.

Suggest that the first step is to consolidate all SP1 comments into one heading and the moderators keep it that way.
I had some good help from one of the Techs on the first day so it is not for want if trying to get it up and running without faults.
The SP1 does run and first appearances are encouraging

Please please, people, Run an EDR before trying to use SP1, finding there is something wrong and giving up.

If the graphics are poor and you are getting stuttering check your display resolution, check you haven't been changed from DX to OGL or the other way round,
If still having problems swap graphics mode, go into game run briefly, exit, change Graphics mode back. Often after patching you need to do this for some reason. Maybe some caching or setting left over from before the patch than needs clearing or a kick.

I had the same problems and did, as the above as I always do after a patch, plus I did re-install my Graphics drivers A well. There are no problems with performance now plus it solved the vanishing SpeedTree issue.

To add I've just tested OpenGL again and I'm getting double the FPS in SP1 than I was before the patch and no stutter or jerkyness, It's actually now usable!

No problem. Hopefully that new feature simplifies the uploading/downloading of routes. (I have yet to see the automatic thumbnail generation though).

Shane

The Automatic Thumbnails works well, takes a screenshot of wherever you chose to be on the route and overwrites the existing one, where there is so you can change it if you don't like the one it's given by default on a new route.

I just downloaded the patch and am not sure what is next. This is what I did:

1. At the begining of this thread, I clicked on the download and I was asked to Open, Save,Run. I chose Save. It tok about an hour to download. I than went to the download station an did the extrended data repair and that took about 1/2 hour. I then started my routes and really didn't see any difference. Did I do something wrong?

Richard

Just downloading the patch is not enough to actually patch the game - close Trainz completely and run the downloaded patch file (and potentially wait a long time until it says Patching Complete or Patching Aborted).

And then run the extended database repair.

Any reason why the install should stop at about halfway? Ive downloaded the file twice now and both patches just seem to grind to a halt when they get about halfway patched. If its not a problem I shall let it run over night and see how it is in the morning.

Well, I've uploaded a new version of my A and SLT MP TS12 CAD Layout & Sessions V7.6 SP1 update with no errors, yet I cannot open it to host a session because there are missing dependencies or...

I've downloaded them from the download station after deleting them from my local version of trainz.

Any ideas? This seems bizarre when there are no errors showing at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
