Article: Discover more about Trainz and Kickstarter

I'm kind of hoping that a new N3V will emerge from this process, a company that is ready to engage in a symbiotic manner with the community. Here's hoping.

Can we please have a comparison with some user created content between Trainz 12 and Trainz A New Era ?
Just to see the difference (not that its not obvious already!)

Tony is a pretty man on youtube. And have good ideas. Trainz a new era will be amazing. Like battlefield 4 on Microsoft One. With fully exploding and smashing terrain and objects with shadows and 24 million colors. I really look forward to it like all users here. It will have rainbows and animals grazing, maybe they be on the tracks!!!!! And people walking 3d onto trains and sitting down and going to the toilet, opening the windows, smoking many cigarettes, birds flying above, flies in the trees. This will compete with Myst 2. Nvidia full support. I dream and I know it will be promised!!!! And an EA soundtrack like EA sports will American artists singing songs for full 3d blueray songs.

Tony --

Love the video. It's great to actually see who you are (my guess of a 55+ year-old be-suited grey-haired executive was obviously well wide of the mark).

I liked the moving shadow effects in the very small clip of what the new game engine will produce. If you could just tone down the colours slightly to make it less cartoonish it would be much more impressive.

And, yes, based on this video clip I'm no longer a sceptic and will be more than willing to pledge a donation.

Phil

Tony,I like what I've seen so far, but I have just one question about 3rd party steam locomotives and other content, will they work with this new upcoming simulator?

Love the video. Why can't we have ALL of them? Love the fact that rain will not be in tunnels and smoke and steam builds up underneath bridges! Also love the super-elevation and spline junctions with the moving points.

And PLEASE PLEASE for gods sake, update the Content Creators guide! And don't leave out any explanations of any features in the new game. Or how to create a particular asset etc. And that default built-in track KILL IT NOW, it looks yuck. Track should also be sorted by gauge in the track selector in surveyor, this would be a very useful feature indeed.

They need to update everything in general. Content Manager is a rubbish program that crashes almost every time I use it.

JUST FIX WHAT THEY HAVE
I have 2530 faulty assets I HAVE TO FIX.( if I can.)
Do you really think that the same thing is not going to happen.
I just bet most of your payware will not work with out extensive and/or expensive upgrading.
What ever happened to right and tight programing...wait for it...Obama Care...HA..
They show you pretty pictures and you just can't wait to throw you money at them.

TS12, a rebranding of TS2010 with main focal point of Multiplayer is an absolute disaster. They can not deliver on a stable Multiplayer Platform.
I could go on and on about the imperfections, but why? TS12 Consumers are now forgotten about IMHO.

Why are you buying into Kickstarter people and that we will have a reliable Train Simulator from N3V moving forward?
Ask yourself this, why is Trainz needing Kickstarter yet NONE of their other simulators need such financial backing?

Oh, I am sure this will spark some sort of Corporate Play On Words from Tony Hilliam or other.

You, the Trainz Enthusiast, have the right however to hand over money to N3V thru Kickstarter.
I hope you feel you have been provided ample trinkets and "Trainz: A New Era" provides you what you expect.
I am definitely on the back burner with "Trainz: A New Era".

I can't speak for other simulators, nor do I expect everyone to support our project on Kickstarter.

What I do know is that many people have recognized that by providing their support, then Trainz: A New Era (T2) will become a reality. T2 then creates a new base upon which additional features can be added for many years to come.

If you don't want to see a new version of Trainz bigger and better than ever before, that is your choice. However, if you feel that punishing N3V Games for past performance will in any way help Trainz in the future, you are misguided.

Have we performed perfectly for 12 years? Absolutely not. Have we done a lot of things right over that period? Of course we have. Have we got more work to do? Most certainly. And our firm belief that the best way forward is the path we have chosen (otherwise, why do you think we chose it?).

Anyone writing comments here must have some association with the product. There must be some reason, some attachment to Trainz that brings you to these forums. I assume for most people here the goal is to see Trainz become better than it is right now (and for some, with improved multiplayer). Like it or not, Trainz and Kickstarter is your opportunity to actually make a difference and help determine the future of Trainz.

I've been misguided by almost everyone that wants me to buy something.

I notice that you did not address any of my complaints.
I'm a contributor $$$.$$ to a Kickstarter project because of that programers team.
I know from past experience that it will be right and tight.
Its almost a year now with launch next year.

Im wasting my time here, got to get back to fixing over 2000 assets.
