Are you a rail photographer??

In 1979 I snapped this ancient Great Central Railway "bothways" signal near Dawes Lane signalbox, Scunthorpe...:o

Thanks for the extra information Michael!

Hi Lewis, in the late 1980s and 1990s I sometimes went to Scunthorpe steelworks with my tipper wagon. Hope you remember some of these!

Well done if you spotted that some might have been at Flixborough or somewhere else close to Scunny! Isn't Dawes Lane where the low bridge is?

John
ps I must get to the Steelworks for one of the enthusiast rail trips, another New Years' Resolution!

Nice shots John! I"d love to see those little crane vehicles on Trainz - I wonder if any survived in preservation? Dawes lane was on the Winteringham branch I think , its certainly long closed...:( P.S Does Scunthorpe still have a Steelworks? I thought it would have been gotten rid of years ago with all those nasty smelly things like Coalmines and Shipyards which we used to have in Britain?

those puctures appear to be taken at the Steamtown Depot in Peterborough. Steamtown use to run trains from peterborough to Black Rock or orraroo but due to the rising cost the trains no longer run. If I remember correctly it is now a static museam (for now) the locos that ran were former WAGR steam locos W 901 & PMR 720

thats right, actually they ran right thru to Eurelia and return but insurance and the bad track condition and lack of funds killed running but however they are now doing better financially as a museum than they ever did as a running trains service. and yes correct on the two locos as well.

Boston was one of my favourite haunts and on 21/9/1981 I pictured this antiquated level crossing on the Docks line. The line was closed for many years but recently reopened and incredibly the signalbox, gates and signals were returned to use.....:D

On 12/1/1980 I visited the former Wisbech station on the branch from March and saw this old Brakevan in the goods yard. Can any expert on rolling stock identify it?...

Are you a rail photographer?

these two 'arrys are!

Trouble is they also thought it was OK to take a chain saw and spend at least 15 minutes cutting down trees that were in their shots!

Never mind we got our crappy shots without destroying wildlife. Taken between Pontefract Baghill and Ferrybridge, near the M62 motorway.

A blast from the past! A few shots of class 37s around Fort William and the West Highland line. If anyone regrets not getting up there when 37s ruled, join the club cos I regret not doing the line when 27s ruled!
