Are you a rail photographer??

Great px Wilee! That little Railbus looks exactly like the Wagen Unt Maschenberg (prob got the spelling hopelessly wrong) railbuses which we had in the UK in the early 60s..Surely they can"t be that old? Or are we the only country which scraps equipment after about 5 years use?

You do indeed live in the country which scraps stuff every 5 years, these railbusses were made in the early 60's as well and were in service till about 2000 around the Tuebingen area. Most of this class was taken out of service in the late 90's but most of them have gone on to other countries or are in service with museum railways like here.

WileeCoyote:D

Thank you Wilee, your pictures are good, they are just the sort of thing I like. The words help us to understand and learn a little more about railways in other parts of the world.

I thought exactly the same as Lewis about the classic railbuses!

So there is only Craig and Myself daft enough...

....to go out in freezing fog to photograph a couple of Brush 4s!!!!!!!!!!!! Methley junction, south of Leeds.

The classic British train photo is a front three-quarters. This is definitely one of those!!!! Honestly we could not see it coming.

Good job they now drag one behind! Poor photo but Victa Westlink will be no more after the end of the year. My 1 and only loco shot so far!

Thanks for the photographs you guys, pity the weather was pretty awful, seems as though you Aussies have rain, as well as us...:p
Anyway, thanks for going out into the wicked elements to take some pix for us, I would pop out as well, but I have a dodgy knee at the moment...or is it a "man cold", I can't remember.....:hehe: :o

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

On Sunday the black five 45407 and Standard 76079 worked another Christmas shopper train to York, this time from Liverpool. We managed to see it at Castleford whilst Mrs C + Miss C were spending my money. I apologise if these shots are similar to the recent ones, but next year promises some more variety! Here's to that and some better weather!

Now if only I could compose a decent shot along the lines of Bishop Eric Treacey, Dick Riley, James Shuttleworth (LOL)!

just a question, can anyone tell me the best spot in sydney to get pics of the trains there.
i really want pics of the xplorer and the endevour

im sorry if i have placed this in the wrong spot, but its only my 4th ever post.

For both Xplorers and Endeavours, Hunter Valley near Newcastle. Not in Sydney but suppost to be a good place for all you train spotting neats in NSW in particalar. Gunna go there soon myself.

And being from Queensland, you may even see some QRN Coal trains running around.....:p

OR another thing is you can just go to Central during a time when both type of trains are suppost to be there. I have seen some Endeavours and Xplorers at Sydney Terminal at the same time (and in the same photo). But laterly I been doing more practical gunzelling :)

Hello Mr Evans, it is very good of you to put some pictures on for us! I spot a bit of smoke at the front of one of your trains, were you behind a steam loco? If so was it on a preserved line or out on the main line? Also which line and whereabouts are the diesel photos taken? If I win a pot full of money I might want to visit the location myself!

John

ps In case anyone is mistaken, my recent shots are actually taken on the main railway system using preserved steam locos. We are very much spoilt at the moment, there seems to be a large leisure market which is putting "bums on seats" which enables the operating companies to run these trains.

Yes I was behind a steam loco. It is a preserved line. It's the Strasburg Railroad in Lancaster County PA. You can download the route for trainz here. The first three diesel pics were fom Horseshoe Curve on the Altoona PA. to Cresson PA. route. The last two were from my hometown Putnam CT on the Norwich Branch Line.

Check the Countrylink/ Cityrail web sites for timetables to make sure you are in the right place at the right time.

Obviously Sydney Central is going to be the easiest location, but there are probably more endeavours to be seen in Newcastle and south of Campbelltown than at Central.

Best chance for Explorers are the Armidale/Moree services and Canberra trains.

Mark

ok time for a couple of Australian shots

the third pic would have been this mornings Indian Pacific but I missed it due to working on a project that I couldnt leave at the time so thatll wait for Thursdays train, snapped these wagons rusting in pieces out back of our local steam preservation societies yard.

more to come as they pass thru town.
those puctures appear to be taken at the Steamtown Depot in Peterborough. Steamtown use to run trains from peterborough to Black Rock or orraroo but due to the rising cost the trains no longer run. If I remember correctly it is now a static museam (for now) the locos that ran were former WAGR steam locos W 901 & PMR 720

Getting back to the subject of this thread in 1981 I shot this Tractor hauling a Cleethorpes to Manchester train into Worksop station....:D
