Wayyyy back on 24/6/1979 I visited Penzance with 50029 Renown and here she is being checked by the Guard, who appears to be anout 80 years old( my apologies if he is still working)...:p

Howdy Lewisner, very nice photograph, I must see if I have any more "Hoover" shots for this thread.
I would think the guard would be near 110 years old by now, so I doubt if he is still working.....

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

Well if the guard is still working I bet that he looks mighty fine in his pseudo air-hostess uniform. And I bet that he has had all his lifetimes railway experience surgically removed to be replaced by customer focused, vertically integrated, market led, blue chip travel brainwashing. I even bet they have taken his Acme Thunderer from him to prevent him upsetting his customers with the noise!

Hi guys."JohnChisem" I spent 21 years working on the railways , mostly as a guard....I heard that on Virgin Trains "Conductors" are taught to see Fare Dodgers as "Sales Opportunities" lol.On the same day, here is 50014 Warspite ready to leave.I believe both 50s still exist, though not in this tip top condition.

great shots of Penzance Lewisner, visited there this summer and was one of my favorite places in England, that may be because it was sunny there when it was flooding in Oxford:hehe:

interesting how today they use the outer track for intercity trains and the trainshed for locals, anyone know why this is?

Nice shots nikos and unusual to see a "Duff"(class 47) with snowploughs. You"ll probs find that the reason why the FGW trains use the bay platform is due to the crazy franchising system here - whichever company is the "designated owner" of the station gets to call the shots and decide which trains use which platform.

A nice double header came through Pontefract Baghill Station, or rather the very sad remains of it! BR Standard 76079 and Black Five 45407. They were motoring quite well so the picture is little blurred due to the atrocious weather!

And here is todays rail photograph, with a free AWS ramp thrown in!

50% of yesterdays motive power worked from York to Lincoln and back today. I was very busy today but just managed to get to my nearest station (Outwood) to see 45407 pass through whilst slowing down for the stop at Wakefield Westgate (most steam trains use Wakefield Kirkgate)

Here is the rail on which it travelled

We have had quite a good show of steam in Yorkshire this year, next year is already starting to look good. There is also quite a lot of steam around London, perhaps all of you could make a new years resolution to stick at least 1 photo (I don't like links!) on this thread. Oh and Santa could always give you a camera if you haven't got one yet!

Seasons' greetings
