An easy way to replace unknown tree assets?

I've run into an issue with Leeferr's Ashland Central system route, specifically that most of the trees on the route show up as unknown on the content manager.

What I want to know is if there is a way to do a bulk replacement for those unknowns without having to manually go in and replace every last damn one, or just delete the unknowns and leave bald spots on the route?

Since the "Unknown" assets are (literally) unknown then you cannot really determine which are trees and which are other types of assets.

The easiest way is to delete all the unknowns, trees and other objects, in the one go with a click or two.

In the Tools Menu select the option Delete Missing Assets

In Surveyor 2.0 you can identify individual missing or unknown assets in the Trainz World by their kuid codes, then disable them in CM and then "nuke 'em" with the Delete Missing Assets option.

Here's the thing, though, the two unknowns belong to mcguirel, and they are scattered in mass all over the map, so while they might not be a tree, their still a large chunk of the route's foliage.

I'll get you a screenshot of what I'm talking about when I get off work this evening.

Find a replacement tree, then add to the config file an obsolete table with the kuid of the missing tree. Launch your route and the missing trees should be replaced. Exit and save then revert the new tree to its original.

If I know exactly what kind of tree it is, I just take any similar one, open a folder for editing, copy this folder to another location, replace the kuid in config with the one that missing, and then import this folder into the game.

The main thing is that the donor tree should not be payware, and available for editing.

And this works in 19?

Yes.

In Content Manager.
Clone a similar tree.
Change the view to open for edit.

You'll see "New Asset".

Right-click on that and choose open... in Explorer.
Go up one level and copy the asset-folder to your desktop. (Asset folder will have your kuid number and name.)
Minimize Content Manager for now.
On your Desktop, open the asset-folder and edit the Config.txt
Change the kuid to the one you want to use and also change the username to something different such as replacement tree for whatever. (Whatever is the tree name you want to use).
Save the config.txt file.
Close Notepad or whatever text editor edited your config.txt file.
Close the asset-folder.

Open up Content Manager and drag and drop the asset-folder from your desktop onto CM to import the asset.

If all went well, you should have replaced your missing tree.

Repeat this for any other trees that are missing.

Excellent detailed guide!
I'd like to add my two cents.
After you have done all of the above and want to replace the surrogate tree kuids which were created with real ones. For example, if you want to post a route on DLS to share with everyone.
Through a surveyor, make a massive replacement of each of these trees with trees with real kuids.
