Hi I have just downloaded the airedale route from download station and found a few items missing or broken. The stations at the end of each line are missing . East Belle Isle station and east Arndale are missing, has anybody else had the same problem with the route. Hope somebody can help. Thank you.

Those stations are both Tafweb's 2 track through stations, both either built-in or on the DLS, I forget which, but everything in Airedale is either one or the other. If they are showing as faulty, it is just attachment point issues. Open for edit in explorer, open the config file and check the "passengers_on" & "Passengers_off" entries. Some of them, if I remember correctly, have a space before the closing quote which you need to delete. Some are missing in the mesh and that whole line can be deleted, as those entries refer to nothing. Save and commit. For missing assets in general, just drag Airedale back into the DL helper, and it should pick them up on the second pass.
For missing dependencies of dependencies, open that tab, select a screenful, R--Click, Download, and that clears them. Broken assets depend on which asset and which fault, but they are all fixable or I couldn't have got them in the route in the first place. This applies to all routes in general, it's impossible to remember which, among literally thousands of assets, required a fix to get them to work.
Anything you absolutely can't get to work, open the route in surveyor, main menu, delete missing assets and then save. Replace with any assets you have which suit you better.

Regards,

Ken

No problem here, I fixed the stations and a couple of other things, I forget what, while I was downloading, which didn't take long, finished before the download was. Missing dependencies of dependencies I just re-downloaded the parent, no problems. If you watch the downloads in the today tab you can pick up faulty stuff as it appears and when it's a simple job, fix them straight off.

Good to know, Malc. Hope you enjoy the route. There is plenty of provision to add, delete, adapt how you want. I think everybody has outside assets, different to the ones I have, so I've tried to allow for that.

Hi Ken
Nice local route.
I've fixed the items with the missing attachments and commented out the script and class in the crossings but I've still two to fix, but I'm not sure how to go about these. These are
LNER friargate Bridge 4t
AJS Station 2x110

Any ideas welcome.

AJS Station 2x110

Open for edit, create new text file named red.texture.txt containing primary=black.tga, the red texture doesn't actually seem to appear to be missing anywhere, so just use what's available to shut up CM. I've done that on several AJS stations,
Friargate bridge?
Delete obsolete tags,
Rename ballast_01a.bmp to ballast_01.bmp

Yes, Ken, just had a look and they are fixable.

ajs station 2x110 is a missing texture. Open for edit in explorer, click on the drive with your Trainz install(s) and search for red.tga, there are quite a few will show up, R-click one of them, click "Open in location"and copy the red.tga & red.texture.txt files to your Trainz/User Data/Editing/ajs station 2x110r30 folder. Copy, don't move! Then in CMP, Edit > Commit.

LNER Friargate Bridge 4T - again, open for edit in explorer, click on the config.txt file, find and delete the entire line with the tag orig kuid, Save and close. Then find the ak_ballast01.texture.txt file and change the ak_ballast01.bmp to read ak_ballast01b.bmp (just insert a "b"). Save and close. Again, in CMP, Edit > Commit.

That clears the faults, both still show the yellow warnings thingy, but that's about build number being unsupported. They do work in game, which is all that matters. Hope this sorts it for you.

Ken

Just in case some people are not aware of the texture bug. If you have missing textures but NO missing dependancies, what I do is to move a tree or something on the route layer. This forces Trainz to save a new route with your kuid. If you go back to CM you will probhably see missing dependancies whereas before there were none. I have just done this and 33 new textures showed as missing, I then downloaded them and now all textures seem to be present. If you find there are still some missing repeat the procedure until all are present. I am now showing 1397 dependancies.

Ken

Glad you're sorted, Ken, and that's a good tip about missing textures on DL'd routes. It's a bit of a pain seeing blank baseboards that CMP hasn't picked up.

Ken

LNER Friargate Bridge 4T - again

For the recent 2.9 edition of the Friargate bridge 4T (<kuid2:84609:38020:1>), I don't get texture problems, but I do get red faults with CM 3.3 complaining about an "incorrect number of trackdirections" and "incorrect number of trackoffsets".

What are the correct numbers for a 4-track bridge using single-track as the bridgetrack dependency?

How did it get uploaded with faults? I thought the DLS upload robot stopped that sort of nonsense a long time ago.

Yes, in 3.3 it has the entries for 3.6 & 3.7 compatibility.

For 3.3 edit config.txt to:

track directions 0,0
track offsets -2,2

and that fixes it!

No, not really.

It quashes the fault messages OK, but makes it a 2-track bridge, not 4-track. I guess this is what happens when a build 2.9 pretends to be a build 3.6. I tried swapping out the 1-track rail with 2-track rails (hoping to make 2x2=4 tracks) but that still showed up as just 2 tracks.

There are other problems with this model too. Notice in the screenshot how the end pieces of the bridge are open, but in the little viewer window, you can see they are capped? Not sure if that's a problem with the model, its config, the viewer, or what?

In any case I don't think I want this inherently faulty asset in my collection even if local fixes repair it. It's going to cause problems in any layout that gets distributed. I will delete this one and the corresponding LNER_Friargate_Bridge_2T (it also shows trackdirection and trackoffset faults). It's for the creator (Kemplen) to fix, not us.

Once you pointed that out to me, I noticed the end pieces are open, but mine still shows 4 tracks. Have you tried deleting the bridge, thus restoring the previous version.

No, just tried that and it didn't work - the only thing I can think of is I swapped out the bridgetrack, but I don't really see how that explains it.

In TS12 with SP1 all 4 tracks are present. The only problem are the end pieces, the upper half of the end wall is missing. You have to exchange the meshes for the initiator and terminator in the mesh table. For TS10 You have to change the trainz-build to 2.8. The error checking in TS10 isn't correct for some entries, allowing only exactly 2 values, where a list of values should be allowed.

Thanks, Peter. Changing the initiator to _end4t.im and the terminator to _start4t.im brought the end pieces back. Presumably, therefore, you could always just rename the mesh names in the root folder.

I don't have 2010 installed at the moment, so I'm using 2009, patched up to CM 3.3, as well as TS12, both 49922 and with SP1 HF4, and there are no problems in TS12. I'm wondering if the missing tracks are just in 2010, although that is CM 3.3, and so should be the same CM as is in my 2009.

It's a puzzle!
