Adjusting the size of the window to run in

Hello all

Does anyone know how to adjust the window size that Trainz can run in?

My graphics card just doesn't have sufficient grunt to run smoothly on my large monitor, so I run TS12 in a window (A Trainz option) but it is a set size.

I have a general frame rate of around 15 - 18 FPS or more but when there are large amounts of buildings and tracks etc, it drops to about 4 FPS. If I could make the window size smaller by some means, the frame rate would pick up considerably.

Hoping someone can help

Couple of ideas

1. I agree with the suggestion that Direct X is better than Open GL. Your experience may vary. TS2010 on my laptop was DOA using Open GL but when I switched to DirectX, it solved the problem.

2. Most advice on these forums is to run Trainz at the same screen resolution as you are using on your PC, which will mean running full screen. This advice also helped me eliminate incidents where my screen blacked out for a few seconds at random intervals. If your video card isn't up to the task of running full screen, you can guess what the solution will be.

Thank you fellows for your ideas to help me improve frame rates, but it seems that resizing the optional window available, is not possible, so I'll try out your suggestions to see where I can go from here.

Thanks again

The throttle control...

 In Surveyor, Sessions or Driver Mode, at the top of the screen select Menu/Options & in the box select entry "Draw Distance."

Move the needle to the left, 1500m. That's 1500-meters(4921-feet).

This along with 'normal' settings for details will get a handle back to the smoother running side of Trainz until you find what you need.

Systems Requirements Lab has a utility called "Can You Run It?"

In the second entry box select Trainz Simulator 2009 & you will get an idea of where you stand.

Go Start Trainz, and you'll get to the Trainz Launcher, and press options - Go to 'Display Settings' and 'Display Resolution' is present
