Sampug394, a few comments about your post:

When someone is happy with the way things are, that's called contentment.
When people are unhappy with the way things are (i.e. YOU), that's called complaining.

So please don't tell us we're complaining, when it's you with the megaphone.

I don't know where you did your computer training, but BMP's are the worst possible image to use for transfer over the Internet. That one of yours, nice drawing as it is, comes in at a very fat 42.5 kb as a JPG and over 268kb as a BMP. As the minimum allowable signature size is 100 pixels high and 30kb, your drawing misses out in every respect. 130 pixels high is not "acceptable" and that's it.

Yes, I for one do understand the optional Avatar display function thank you very much and I have avatars turned off, I also take exception to your curt comment, especially the thumbs down bit. Please try to be a little less almighty and remember that the forums are a vehicle for communication, not a place to shove your latest illustrative masterpieces (Avatars and off topic signatures) down people's throats.

Ditto. One important thing people must remember with GIF images, is that they can affect people with medical problems. Slow GIFs may be okay, but I can almost guarantee that some members would have too many pictures in it, causing it to flash too fast. They would not be able help themselves to attempt to get as many pictures in as possible.

I/Central, you claim the avatars won't be too big, but just go and look through many signatures on here, and see for yourself. And before you say you can disable signatures, what about those who have useful links in their signatures?

Large pictures (be they signatures or not) can also affect broadband. How? Because quite a lot of ISP's charge for uploads as well as downloads. And some ISPs also charge for extra if you go over the quota per month.

Illinioscentral, I'd like to get your opinion on those who for various reasons have to use plans such as those that count uploads & downloads in their monthly quota. Are you saying "stuff" these people on these plans?

I have enough trouble if a post needs editing. Often they fail to edit when you press submit.

Why do you care so much...all those threads you made about oversize signatures and stuff?

I get nothing but B.S when I post a suggestion, whether it is whining about size or just typical naysayers...why? I can almost guarantee that if my profile listed Age: 66 or 45 instead of Age: 15...I would not get these replies.

Many of you take advantage of the fact that many of us are young, and you know what, it really tends to stomp on many of us, ruining our dreams...and you wonder why we get no where in the world today, why many kids go around doing nothing.
Trial and error is life...I understand that...but it just a harmless suggestion, do I have mail each of my suggestions to Zec_Murphy or Tony_Hilliam?
Just to get them to listen without all of this negative input?
Perhaps a nicer way to put it would be,

'Woody,
I really don't think it would be a good idea, as it could bring a few issues to life. Sometimes an idea sounds good...but isn't good in the long run."
Not to say that everyone here is rude, but some of you have a rude way putting your opinion.

Personally, I was just suggesting that it may be more interesting or "fun" to do it this way. I enjoy looking at people's avatars, it is interesting and sometimes comical.

I've always wondered if we could upload some Train GIFs we can use. I found some great looking ones that aren't in the selection... Perhaps, we just expand the selection instead of going images? Let people submit their own Train/Dirt Bike/Shoe GIFs, and have them be punished for unapproved pictures as if they started a new thread with them. There will be, of course, limitations in the uploading process, and sizes.

If I were allowed to upload some Train GIFs, I found plenty of amazing N&W ones no bigger than the P42 GIFs already available. Maybe, we could expand with the N&W ones?

It was a simple thought or idea...that I thought Auran should consider...I never said they MUST consider it, I was just suggesting.

You know, I've read all the posts, and I'm deeply confused. Woody, made a suggestion, that he tried to back up. Now, I read, in who's post I cannot recall, that it wouldn't give a slight clue to age, and wethier they were female or male. Now, please tell me how using a CN, NS, CSX or anyother railroad signifies any of that. Your avatar, atleast I thought, was supposed to be something you found that you liked, enjoyed, or could relate to. Nevertheless, I can see where JohnK, is comming from. Dial-up's and people like Jon are gonna have one heck of a time loading everything. It was a simple suggestion by Woody, why there is so much arguing and bickering between everyone I am not sure. As for the avatars, I like them, I can pick my favorite Locomotive, with my favorite road, and that's perfect for me. But, I can also see where Woody is comming from, if he wants to post something dear to him, such as dirtbikes.
