December 23, 1973. A heavy snowstorm knocked out overhead power over St. Paul Pass. However, a few priority freights had to get over the road anyway, so the Milwaukee Road enlisted 3 SD40-2s as replacement for the EF4 that would normally lead trains over the pass. I braved the high winds, cold temperatures, and heavy snowfall to climb down the hill to watch and hear six SD40-2s pull a train up the hill. It was 5 below, but I waited for the train to come. I saw the trackside trees get lit up as the train rounded the corner. I took my lens cap off, did a quick exposure check, then waited. The headlights shone around the corner. Click! This was the image I snapped that night.
Aye Collin, that route is looking good so far. I like the idea you picked up from a fellow friend ......
Jon, that shot is perfect for Halloween, but it's a bit white for that. It seems so ghostly really. Good idea posting it for this time...
