Yeah I know its not 100% realistic or 100% prototypical. Many of my designs are more fun, I usually like to have more interesting crossings then just laying bridges and tunnels everywhere. Yes technically its more of a highway then an interstate but I use a lot of highways on my route so I thought that Interstate 545 was cooler like the federal government came in and funded the expansion of the old highway to help the expanding city, though parts still have the old highway on it. Anyways continue on with the amazing pictures you guys post.

I can't speak to American practice, but back in the 1970s there was exactly such a level crossing over Hwy 401 (a Canadian equivalent to US interstates) a bit east of Toronto. At some later point they did build a bridge to take the tracks over the highway, though.
