EIT sequence of events

I fancy a go at a EIT timetable route as I am sure many others are. I have seen the demo route by Pguy and it does look a bit daunting but I am sure I could figure it out with a bit of patience, I am surprised I could not find a step by step guide of how to start going.
I presume that you start with constructing a route, add the consists and then add a tower, but what is the sequence after that, do you setup the tower first or setup the rules and in what order the rules?. Can someone help me with this please?.

You will obviously need signals (visible or invisible) and switches (visible or invisible) as they are the two features that the EITs use to set train paths. Hint: From experience it is a good idea to give your signals and switches sensible names. The default names such as "junction123456789" will cause you (not the EIT) some headaches.

After adding an EIT open its properties window and set its parameters and then add paths. This is a huge learning curve but, after having climbed that curve I can say it is well worth it.

There is a starting guide by pguy at http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/Enhanced_Interlocking_Tower

There is also an official Trainz video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fc12ILNf_o0&t=4s
