UK rolling stock after 1918 introduction of pooling.

There has been some discussion in HMRS recently about what sort of wagons would be seen in different areas.

"After pooling was introduced from around the end of the First World War the numbers of foreign wagons of the pooled types seen in a goods yard would have been roughly the same anywhere in the country and for open merchandise wagons the ratio was around 2 x GWR, 7 x LMS, 5 x LNER, 1 SR and for merchandise vans 4 x GWR, 8 x LMS, 6 x LNER, 1 x SR."

Something to think about when stocking a layout.

Even in the pre-pooling period surviving goods yard tally lists show that wagons still managed to travel well outside their owning company's areas.
