how when placing a track can i make sure the land is balanced... example- placing a track and raising the terrain level to cover some of the ties and rails... problem is when i try to raise the terrain the track level raises also... plz help

This can be achieved by locking your spline points, they then turn from white to yellow. In advanced tools, click on get height then on a spline point to get the height then click the apply height and then the spline point. height is now locked.

Set the height of the track spline point using the Adjust spline Height tool in the advanced tab of the Track flyout. You don't need to change the height - just click on the spline point with the option selected so that the point changes from white to yellow.

You might consider if it is easier to set the track splines as fixed when you place them. The option is in Settings \ Interface settings \ Fixed track vertex height.
