Friends, if all else fails, here's the way I make a printable map. First, I set Trainz to run in a window, rather than in full screen mode. Then I go to Surveyor, and switch to map view, adjusting the elevation of the view to the point where the map shows the level of detail I prefer. Then I capture screen shots of the window containing the Trainz map. I open the screen shots with my preferred image processing software (in my case, GIMP, but I expect others would work too), and check to see that the aspect ratio of the screen shots is correct. In my case, I frequently find that the aspect ratio is not correct--an "aerial" view of a baseboard is often off, so that the dimensions are 506 x 512, so I scale the image to correct the dimensions so they are the same. Then I use the software to make a collage of the appropriate screen shots, so that they form a seamless map of the route, which I can print out from the image processing software.
I know this process is not as convenient as being able to select a menu item or hotkey, and print out the route, but it's a means of achieving the same effect. And the method also works for creating images for the purpose of route creation when there are resources which do not lend themselves to DEM files.
