Hiding map textures

Hello,

Why is the option of hiding the map textures available only in the Mini Map (Map Display Options), and not in the Map Options?
Changing it in the Mini Map does affect the over-all Map view as well, so why not have the option there as well?
It is very useful if one wants to see only the tracks.
When I look at the ground up close, I can use the Ground menu to hide the textures, but that does not work for a view from a large distance.

I just spent a lot of time in GIMP trying to do something with this problem. The tracks and text and other features are not simple colors. But pixels of different shades. There's a lot you can do in GIMP to get you closer, but I was never satisfied with the results.
