The Canadian Thread - Hi-Res images

Nice shots in the Rockies Norm.

On the Wilkie Sub here just east of Biggar. Looks like a few unpainted baseboards in the distance. I guess I need to do a little work over there.

Cheers, Jack

Outstanding! These are all amazing shots of Canadian rail in action. To all of the contributors, thank you for the inspiration. I am trying my hand at a few Canadian railway pics. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed all of yours.

I'm always impressed by the lovely Canadian screens you guys put out. CNR and Creepy Rail gotta love em.

Lots of great screen shots here lately. Roy, CPRail, Chris, escd84 - real nice stuff!
Charlielima, I definitely enjoyed yours and I hope you show us some more of your work.

Cheers, Jack

Wow, Canadians are living large now! For those who haven't seen Cayden's CP Mountain Sub 1887 yet you can expect a lot of screenies from me.

These shots are scattered across the first 15 miles heading west from the eastern edge of the route. If you like running grades this route is for you.

I'm still digging for a more 1887 like consist, the one shown is more turn of the century and is composed of froobie's collection of passenger cars and a bashed together 4-4-0 and tender from different sources (but all based on BDANeal's work).

The last two shots show one of the runaway runoffs on one of the major grades. Be sure to sound two short whistles to let the switch man know that your train is still under control so he can change the switch to the mainline. :D

I'm 2 hours and 30 miles into the route and there are a lot more screenies to come.

Cayden's Mountain Sub 1887 cont. A newly rebuilt snowshed (they burned down regularly), mountains, the first tunnel, mountians, and, at about 13 miles in, signs of civilization (Canadian backwoods style)

Speed limits are 10 to 20 mph as track conditions, trestles, and grades permit.

Cayden's CP Mountain Sub. 1887 cont. So much for civilization, pressing on through the mountains.

It is too bad that FH4 broke the signs since this route uses them to very good effect. The ones in the third shot say the name of the summit and give the elevation.

All of these shots are taken by built in track side cameras at between 6:00 and 7:00 AM, as you can see the sun has not cleared the mountains to the east yet. I can't wait to see what this route looks like when the haze clears and the sun is fully lighting the valleys and mountains.

Norm, thanks for posting those great screen shots. I hope you post more.

Cayden, you've done an awesome job with this. The route looks wonderful. It gives us a nice glimpse of the CPR in days long gone.

Cheers, Jack

Cayden's CP Mountain Sub. 1887 cont. The sun is starting to hit the valley floor and the morning haze is thinning.

7:00 AM to 8:00 AM

Cayden's CP Mountain Sub. 1887 cont. You might be getting bored by screenies by now but the route has enough details that it is keeping my attention.

At this point I have covered less than a fifth of the route. :D
