Thai1On is showing you some pretty great stuff from his route. Below are some more from out on the fringe. I am still trying to work my way east from the westernmost tip of the route, and it sure has been a great ride trying! This is a whole lotta route!
Beautiful day for a ride through the woods:
Into the next tunnel:
Past the coal town of Nada:

Recent logging. A spur and sort yard are still there:
I will be away for the next week and a half, but stay tuned, there's much more!
The next 2 stations are on the elevated sections of the L&A Ohio River mainline. The reason for these sections being elevated was due to a devastating flood in 1883 that wiped out a lot of the L&A's track along the river. The railroad rebuilt and 4 tracked the mainline a little higher off the banks of the Ohio River and also elevated sections to avoid future floods. The 4 track mainline was a boom for business for traffic between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
Higginsport Ohio
Ripley Ohio
Last but not least Aberdeen Ohio
Later we will cross the river and tun south for all the Kentucky stations. Stay tuned.
